Hello Alessio,

during my translation I tried to get familiar with new xGM.
As I am a database fetishist first of all I checked the available data fields. For me the following is missing:

- Version (+ Infos about Patches)
- Desktop icon
- Type (Commercial, Adware, Freeware, Open Source, Public Domain)
- Sub-Genre
- Weblinks: Product Homepage, Fansites, forum
- "extended" Status: registered, installed, not installed, not tested, to be deleted
- Registration: serial number, registration name, registration company, download url, download/login username, download/login passwort, registration file, registration info

- data field for system requirement should be not a plain text field. It should be possible to specify hardware requirements in detail that afterwards you can filter according to the detailed hardware specifications

Other requests:
-statistic: should be more colourful; the labeling must be improved; the size should be changeable (the charts don't use the whole size of the window)
-XGM should be able to scan harddrives and CD/DVD/Blu-ray for games and index them (like XMM for movies or Where Is It)
- script request for german games: http://www.pcgamesdatabase.de/

Bye Byte and Happy Coding

Hi Alessio,

quote:
Wow, tons of new fields!

Only brainstorming, don't take it too serious.

quote:
For Desktop Icon what do you mean?

Icons like that: http://windows7themes.net/themes/diablo-2-desktop-icons.JPG
I saw this in a software managing software. It looked nice in the gridview

quote:
Registration: A single field "memo"?

A memo field, an own tab. As you like it. I only want to have registration data in the database. That I don't have to look into the manual or the package

quote:
The scan for DVD etc... I can try, but what kind of info I can retrieve from it?

I have many games - most of all older ones - stored on DVDs or in a kind of software archive on the HD - freeware/shareware games, games from game magazines, game collections on CD/DVD. I want to manage, where all these games are stored. XGM should detect disk/hard disk name and "extract" the game title out of folder names. Or I have games stored on HD as an image - to omit disc juggling, to speed up loading times or because there are images of older games for emulators. For this the image name should be read.

Additional suggestions:

- for system requirements: it should be made like here (sorry, it's in german): http://www.pcgamesdatabase.de/gameinfo.php?game_id=874&cat=sys

- attach of pdf (e.g. manuals)

- many games like flight simulators have addons or special data sets (e.g. football managers). These components should also linked within the database with the main game.

Bye Byte and Happy Coding
