Posted - 11 Dec 2012 : 17:22:56 For the life of me I cannot figure this out. I have been with computers all my life but with XMM I have experienced something I have never seen before. XMM can see files which cannot be seen by windows explorer or other file manager. I discovered this when I tried (unsuccessfully) to copy my data base with covers and fanart to other computer. If you go with windows explorer to the folder where I keep my database file stamp (date) is different than the one you see when you try to access same folder with XMM (“open database”). Screen capture is enclosed.
The result is that whatever I do to update database on one computer and then try to copy that on other and open is lost. Now if you “cheat” and within XMM open a folder where I keep database and right click and chose send file to external drive (same with folders) correct (updated files) will be copied. Why is this happening?
http://i50.tinypic.com/nxq7sz.jpg I am using XMM 7.2.3.6 on Windows 8 (is it possible that would be a “feature” of Win 8)
I would appreciate if someone can explain this to me?

Posted - 11 Dec 2012 : 21:06:52 The problem is that Windows 8 make a temporary copies of the files inside Program Files, I don't know exactly why .
The solution is to move it under your Documents or Desktop. Just to test it.

Posted - 11 Dec 2012 : 18:31:07 I am using XMM 7.
I searched through my HD and there is no other database with the same name but the one listed above. It is the only file with that name on my computer. And as mentioned that file shows different size, date and properties in file explorer compared with when you are opening it within XMM 7.
As you can see in the above screen capture, I tried creating Test database and put some sample movies. THAT DATABASE OPENS in XMM BUT YOU CANNOT FIND IT ON A COMPUTER (except within XMM "open database" command. This is unbelievable!!!! |

Posted - 11 Dec 2012 : 17:55:25 Hello,
I think Its related to the "Program Files (x86)" folder. Seem that XMM 8 make a copy of this folder in the UserAPP folder or something similar.
Please copy the database in a folder in your "Documents" folder instead and try it again.
Let me know,
