Posted - 03 Nov 2006 : 06:21:39 XMM is GREAT!!! Something weird happens, though, so here is information for you. Hope this helps.
This happens only when I have XMM open in the background and I am working in MS Money 2007 in the foreground (but it happened with MS Money 2006 also)....
- Open XMM.
- Use the Quick Edit page.
- XMM can stay maximized or it can be minimized. (This has happened under both situations.)
- Open MS Money 2007.
- Open an account like a checking account.
- Check the box "Show Transactions Form" so the bottom of the form shows the information similar to a checkbook.
- Click on an entered transaction -- one that has a multi-line entry (an entry with split details where the transaction is broken into several separate lines). This will display the transaction information in the "Transaction Form" at the bottom of the page.
- Move the mouse pointer to the Transaction Form and float the pointer over the Category line. This should cause MS Money to display the split details in a yellow tooltip window.
- As this happens, sometimes but not always, the error message will be displayed from XMM.
I typically keep 9-10 windows open with several other applications running at the same time, so there is usually more running than just XMM and MS Money. Usually I have 5-6 IE windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Notepad, several folder windows, etc. I have 1 Gb RAM. Generally total physical memory available is around 300K.
Here is what is displayed:
A Windows dialog box with the title: "Microsoft .NET Framework" The icon is the Critical Stop (red circle with white X) The message text: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Out of memory.
If I click Continue, the message just keeps coming back -- I have to click Quit.
Here is the text provided in the Exception Text portion....
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Posted - 03 Nov 2006 : 23:13:43 Another "Unhandled exception" in .NET....
I don't know if this is really an application bug or if it is just an application exception that isn't trapped by XMM and is therefore passed to .NET Framework.
I use XMM 5.4.7.0. I had a DVD cover that was low resolution and I found an image of the cover that was better resolution, so I wanted to replace the low resolution image with the better one. I thought I would do this by simply replacing the file in the XMM folder "eXtreme Movies Database_cover". So I found the old file in that folder, copied the filename, renamed the new file with that filename, then copied the new file and pasted it into the "eXtreme Movies Database_cover" folder to replace the old file that was low resolution. I did all this in Windows Explorer.
I had XMM open at the time, but that movie file was not selected. So I switched over to XMM and selected the movie to see how the new cover would look. The movie information did not display immediately as it usually does. Instead, there was a lot of hard disk activity for about 15 seconds, and then the following Windows error message was displayed.
Window Title = "eXtreme Movie Manager 5.4.7.0 Deluxe Edition" Icon = Critical Stop (red circle with white X) Text:
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Operation is not valid because it results in a reentrant call to the SetCurrentCellAddressCore function.
(I would attach an image file of the Windows error message so you could see it directly, but I don't know how to attach files to this forum. Maybe someone could explain to me how to do it.
I can click on Continue and the message goes away and XMM still works OK (it does not quit).
Here is a copy of the "Details" text that was displayed in the bottom portion of the window....
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.
