Posted - 13 Apr 2008 : 19:17:45 Version 6.1.6.0 was working properly. I’ve upgraded to version 6.1.9.0 and now have a few problems (these existed with version 6.1.8.0 also).
From the install screens immediately after installation XMM opens correctly. With the next opening however, an error screen comes up indicating that one of two paths is missing. When I manually search for the path, the installation continues but again fails because it cannot find the language files. It doesn’t find them because XMM is not looking in the path where I store the language files.
If I delete the config.ini, XMM again opens correctly – including finding the language files. When XMM opens with the config.ini missing a new config.ini file is written to the .exe folder; however with the ‘new’ config.ini file present when XMM is started it displays the “path” error once again. I’ve found that if I close the “path” error screen – not bothering with a manual search – XMM continues to load, but as with the manual search, does not find the language files. If I copy the language files from their correct location to the location XMM thinks they are XMM will load correctly.
Now with the config.ini file deleted and the language files copied to the path XMM wants to find them, XMM loads correctly, but after opening the shareware screen comes up indicating that XMM has not been registered. The database size limitations do not seem to be in effect – all 313 of my movies load – so the screen is just an annoyance, but still shouldn’t be there.
I admit my configuration may be different, but that really shouldn’t make any difference. I should be able to keep files and databases where I want them – and version 6.1.6.0 did not/does not have a problem with my configuration. (BTW: I keep non-essential program files in a separate folder – C:\Additional Applications. My Documents are on one of my networked drives - \\Net_Files\Allen\My Documents. The actual movies are on another network drive - \\Media\Internet Movies. Therefore, the XMM .exe folder is C:\Additional Programs\eXtreme Movie Manager, the other XMM folders – languages, configuration, etc – are \\Netfiles\Allen\My Documents\ eXtreme Movie Manager\ and the actual movie files are \\Media\Internet Movies\.)
For now I’ve returned to version 6.1.6.0 which works correctly. I hope someone has an idea how to fix these problems – suggestions?

Posted - 01 May 2008 : 15:24:08 XMM 6.1.90 DLX Adding movies: While adding movies with the "Add movies" button it removes the last character in the title Hellboy becomes Hellbo and so on
Importing: When international characters exists in the name it won't import from the net for example: Göta Kanal (ö = swedish character = will not import) Gota Kanal (will find the title with the right character included)
Editing: Lost of focus sometimes when editing directly in the fields (w/o pressing the edit button) Like adding a catalog number sometimes put focus in a whole different area and leaving the catalog no field
Searching and filtrering: Filters sometimes doesn't work. Especially when edited a movie example : I click on the not imported filter and recieve a list of movies but once one of them had been edited the filters work no more (or show an empty list) unless I press a new icon in the left Panel for a refreshed list
Same goes for the Left panel as the filer panel (mini statistics) mentioned above the list won't refresh sometimes unless I click on a new folder (back and forth if I want an alphabetical listing)
Updating: As long as the XMM main window is open and the "new update available" dialog appears I can't click on it with the mouse it just puts itself behind the main window or I have to click the enter button or minimize the main window to click the button |

I won't be back at my computer and network until mid May, but have been able to get 6.2.1.0 working by moving my "operational" files and folders to the location where XMM expects to find them. I'll check out version 6.2.2.0 when I return to see if it allows me to once again put my "Operational" files and folders on my network. Right now I'm not sure if the config.ini file is the problem or if it is deeper in the XMM coding - XMM seems to want to find "operational" files and folders on the primary C:\ drive and that seems to be the root of my problems.
Thank you for your response. Allen |
