Dear Alessio,

at first many thanks for your great work.

But it seems for me that XMM have some trouble with special german characters like : Üü Ää öÖ ß for example. In XMM it shows the correct characters, but when i export to VMC with Media Browser the Media Browser shows only a " " instead the ä ö ü. I have a look at the mymovies XML File and there are only " ". So the special german characters are lost during the export function to VMC. I edited the XML file with the editor and put the german characters into the " " but after saving the file i can not open it again in explorer. Explorer shows an error message. So i have to search the error and found out that the xml file must save in UTF-8 Code. After saving the file in this format i can open it in explorer without an error and the Media Browser V 2.0.8 shows the right german characters. But my database was to big to do it for each film by hand. So please Alessio, can you have a look to the xml file export function for VMC and correct the export to save the XML file in UTF-8 format. So the german characters are usable and maybe it helps for another languages too.

Plot Example in German XMM :

</Description>

If you need the whole XML File i can add it later.

Many thanks

Thanks a lot Alessio, because the combination of EMM as the database tool and MediaPortal/MyFilms as front-end is absolutely outstanding and can't be beaten.

I have try to change the code but without success last week.

I will keep trying.

Hi Alessio - I've tested 7.2.0.4 and the XML export program works with MediaPortal/MyFilms, but still no special Scandinavian/German/Slavic/French/Spanish caracters in the output file. So for us living in those countries or having movies from those countries in the database, this is pretty useless, as it is now, because those special caracters is blanked out in the output XML file.

It's a good thing, that EMM is unicode/UTF8 aware in the program itself, but when supporting features isn't, then......

Hello,

The problems with Mediaportal should be fixed with latest release.

Thank you!

Hi Alessio, I've just installed 7.2.0.3 and you write in the release details: ->Corrected a bug in XML Export, should export data in correct format now.

But there is still no æ, ø, å, ä, ö in my output, but maybe it was another bug as the one about actors.

In general it would be very nice, if you in the release details could be a little more specific/precise, about the issues, that has been fixed - just a suggestion.

Edit: The final XML file can't be imported in MediaPortal/MyFilms, it end up with no movies imported at all, so something must be wrong.

I think EMM has problems with exporting to XML in general. I use MediaPortal with the MyFilms plugin, which can handle external XML databases.

When I use the Export/Export to XML (Export all fields to XML) tool in the EMM menu, the resulting XML file also have problems with these special german
and scandinavian letters and also slavian letters too.

I hope, that this will be fixed soon.

My workaround for the moment is to go around Ant Movie Catalog and import the data from EMM's Access-database to AMC and save the database as XML, which
the MyFilms plugin for MediaPortal can read without problems.

But it's a little odd to go this long way to solve the issue.

As I remember it, we had the same problem with the IMDB script, which was solved by Prinz. Se here:

As Ale has said there is as example the MediaPortal plugin available.
Unfortunately I can't say anything to it as I don't have any use of such software. So sorry for only mentioning this plugin again.

Alessio Viti Posted - 26 Oct 2011 : 21:41:05
Please sorry for my late reply!

Are you still using the Media Browser software? because now for example there is aavailable the MediaPortal plugin...

Just a suggestion before I try to fix this problem with special characters.
