The screen comes up constantly. It started with the last release. since it mentions debugging, I figured it was a bug, so I just assumed it would be covered in the new release, but now it seems worse than ever.

90% of the time I just click it and it goes away. Importing with IMDB complete, I have to click it about 10 times per movie. Every so often (clicking on an actor name in a movie, trying to select multiple movies in grid with Ctrl-click), it comes up and kills the app or makes me kill it.

How can I turn that off?

Thanks,
Kevin

Oh - and I'd already opened my db in Access, but I don't know enough to know what I'm looking at. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary compared to the other entries when I opened the problem items.

Some new stuff...

I don't think it's my database. It seems like it has something to do with the way the scripts understand (or misunderstand) the imdb-complete script information. or maybe something to do with movie.htm.

I started a new database and added two movies - American Carol and another one so I could switch back and forth. When I imported An American Carol with movie.htm being the visible card, it went with no errors, but downloaded only 17 actors. I did a refresh, and could see the pictures, so I knew it was getting more actors, but the moviecard only showed 17. I switched to other moviecards and only saw the same 17. When I went into the actors database, it showed all the missing actors, though.

So - I switched to another moviecard (one without live actor links), cleared all the info for the movie and re-imported - all the actors came in and show under the movie. I switched back to movie.htm, and got the JIT screen error. I went down and clicked Camille Grammer, and got the same directory listing shown above.

Incidentally, clicking on the top actor in the movie, Trace Adkins, generates 32 errors, but doesn't generate any on my "real" database.

Maybe opening your db with MS Access and trying to find the error. Have in mind to look at the problematic movies/actors to find out what fields are unlikely or do contain special chars/html code.
That's the way I would react... but I'm a little unorthodox in same cases ;)

Btw. the folder opens if the required link is not found. Could that be a hint to the problem?

I should also probably point out, now that it appears this isn't an extremely common problem, that my machine (E6600/2G/XPSP3) has effectively zero history of incompatibilities or instability. I have a new quad core monster in parts I never get around to building because this one is so stable - effectively only reboots for updates - running weeks or a month or so at a time (But yes I've restarted, updated and whatnot during all this problem).

I could even understand it being a corrupt database on my end, but how the heck do I fix it? At 790 movies, it's probably not huge comparatively, but I'd hate to start over! I'm out of ideas as far as repairing, re-importing and whatnot.

I sent a message with my zipped database.

As soon as I read that about about the java version, I noticed there was an update in my tray so I tried that - no difference.

Some more notes (Keeping in mind these aren't the only problems - just examples)...

I think it's tied to actors. If I use a moviecard with no live actor links, there are no problems, but I really enjoy that feature.

In An American Carol, if I delete all the actors, it's fine. so I started deleting "chunks" of actors until the problem went away. then I drilled it down until I came up with Camille Grammer being the problem. So after a fresh import and I click her, I get directory listing instead of an actor card...

Now, if I go under actors and select her, the actor card displays normally. I deleted her from actors, cleared the movie info, compressed the database, and re-imported - same thing. I've deleted her from the movie for now. She's an unimportant actress in a movie I don't even like (except ironically), but like I said, it's all just an example.

Conversely, Sea of Love pulls up fine as a movie with no errors, but clicking John Spencer from the movie (or the actor database) still generates 29 errors.

Well, just tested it under 7.0.4.3 and latest java (6.15) - no errors nor crashes on "American Carol" and IMDB (full)...

Hi,

Can you please ZIP your database and send it to me? I cannot reproduce the error here.

I have changed something, so maybe the 7.0.4.4 that I am running is free of this error, but I am not sure.

Thank you!

Alessio

I would suggest that you try to overwrite the data with another script.
Did you already have checked the film in edit mode if there are any obvious things that could make problems?
I have similar difficulties on another script: it writes a mouseover tag in a field - the result is a big error in the HTML Card. Fortunatly it doesn't cause any crashes...

OK - an update - apparently they ALL have to do with the database, and more specifically have to do with IMDB-imported info.

I opened one of the JIT screens - the first one that came on program load. It said the file was temp_collection_movie.htm - when I opened that, it was the #1 movie in my DB - An American Carol. Once loaded, any time I clicked on another nearby movie, it was fine, but if I clicked on American Carol, I got the error. I rearranged so that it wasn't number 1 in the DB, but every time the app opened, it tried to load that movie, so I got the error - even though it was now #784.

I deleted it completely, exited and restarted - no error and very much faster startup. I readded the title, exitied, restarted - fine. I ran the IMD complete script, and the error is back.

It's not number 1, though, so I don't get an error on start any more, but I can't move around for more than a couple minutes without hitting the errors.

Help! What do I do?

Hi - under movies, I'm using movie.htm, and actors are actor.htm. Those are the defaults, aren't they?

Hi,

Sorry for my late reply!

What moviecard are you using? because it's a problem related to javascript in some moviecards.

Let me know,

Alessio

Here's an update. Some of them seem to be tied to be related to database entries, and some don't.

I always get it twice at startup - seemingly before it loads the database.

Some seem random, but I've duplicated a few.

I had Sea of Love open and clicked John Spencer. It came up continuously, so I closed the app. I restarted, went to the actor's database and navigated to John Spencer. When I click on him, it came up 29 times. I upgraded to 7.0.4.2, compacted the database, re-imported his information. Every time I click on John Spencer, the screen comes up 29 times.

Also, when I was first on the actor's page, I clicked a few other Johns... Many were fine. John Stewart makes it come up twice. John Stockwell makes it come up 12 times. - Always the same number for the same actor.

These aren't the only ones by far! I just thought being able to duplicate something so completely might be a help.

Please help! I love XMM, and I've been "selling" (linking) it to all my friends but it's getting unusable. I don't want to have to switch!
