Posted - 12 Jul 2011 : 18:44:13 Hi,
I just used the NFO export tool to save a nfo file in every movie folder i have on my computer.
Now i want to create a new database, so i scan my hard drive for movies and i import them in my database, but it seems that nothing is imported from the nfo files (no personal rating, no country, no director...) but i checked the nfo files and everything is there, here is one example of one of the nfo files:
French True
True Prêts à tout pour réussir? French France
XVID
Mon idole Mon idole Comedy Crime/ Drama/ Thriller 2 To 25.000 False SEEN _MOVIE_ACTORS_ 6 6.2 XVID 688x288 1 222 Kbps MPEG-1 Audio layer 3 192 Kbps 108 1099 48.0 KHz 2 Guillaume Canet Young Bastien is very pleased....
The NFO file has the same name as the movie file name (monidole.nfo and the movie file is monidole.avi)
So i am wondering why it doesn't work?
Thanks.

Posted - 26 Jul 2011 : 02:58:23 For what its worth, I can see a GREAT advantage to importing information from the NFO files. There are a number of free text EDIT/CHANGE/REPLACE/INSERT(before & after) utilities that would allow for massive changes to the NFO files, which would be replicated into the XMM database on import.
The key to this ability will require the NFO file items to be more formalized and predictable. Each item will need a Key Word followed by the Field Content that would be enclosed on some type of delimiters. For example
_MOVIE_TITLE_=[What ever you want] _MOVIE_GENRE_=[Comedy] _MOVIE_MPAA_=[PG-17]
Why would be important to do mass changes? look at the item names listed in the Mange Lists. There are times when it may become necessary to make changes to the names within a list and to have all existing movies with that name in the item to be replicate throughout the movies in the database without doing each movie one at a time. For example, I use the Status list to tell me where the movie came from. I have a list item called "Video from Home VHS". Once I convert all my VHS to DVD, I'll want to change all of the movies with that description in the status field to represent "Video from Home DVD". Even though I make the change in the Manage List | Status, it doesn't update each movie with the new designator. Another example in the ADD/EDIT Media Tab is Bitrate. Currently spaces are used to indicate separations between significant increases in the numbers (3 500 Kbps). I would like to see a comma used instead (3,500 Kbps) but when you have over 300+ movies, that task simply won't get done.
With the ability to change information on a massive scale, users would not need to rely on XMM to perform certain tedious and user specific tasks.
Thanks, Norm
BTW: if this is considered something that will get made, I would recommend that ALL fields be listed in the NFO file even it the field has no value. Because the user may choose to give those fields values. It would also help if we used the field names as already defined in the http://xmm.a.wiki-site.com/index.php/MovieCards document and that I've used in my examples above. |

Posted - 18 Jul 2011 : 11:31:28 Ale, that's why I suggested to make a script for importing from file instead of http. |

Posted - 18 Jul 2011 : 10:08:11 Hello and sorry for my late reply!
I am sorry but there isn't a function to read all info from NFO but only for "export".
Usually people import all information from internet, from NFO XMM read just the IMDB link if exist.
Thank you,
