A new related bug: in v. 7217, export grid to XLS gives

Unhandled exception has occured... Continue / Quit

EDIT In v7220 this bug is resolved. I edit this post accordingly. Please keep in mind the comment above.

Ok, the main problem is that Grid export is fixed. That means that text in most columns gets truncated. Plus, if the Grid is wide and values extend to a page on the "right", this page appears by default after all the "Left" pages. With no ability to set options correctly, PDF and HTML exports are absolutely unusable. XLS export is ok, but the covers ("Picture" field) are exported at a fixed and very low resolution that beats the point. (This goes for PDF & HTML too.)

For a good export XMM should be smart enough to auto define column width according to the longest value in a column, and also a allow us to set a width limit, so that it could then define auto cell height according to the entry (plot, notes, cover's dimensions etc). Needless to say that the "page" width should be user defined.

As it is now, I have to resort to the old export, esp. Movie Card HTML, which is by all means outdated. HTML Templates was a great idea that never fitted my needs the way it was implemented. Templates should be user defined by selecting the fields we want to include and their order.

Thanks for the replies.

I hope they fix this problem with the export.

Two birds with one shot! Thumbs up from me; Alessio needs to give serious priority on both the Unicode problem AND the export capabilities. Editable templates would be the best, I think. Until then, please DO NOT remove the OldExport. (If you want a detailed account of the problems of thw "new" Grid Export, I'll be happy to provide it).

Hi pastorcillo - This bug is already reported here http://www.binaryworks.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4899, but I'm with you all the way.

If you are using MediaPortal, a temporary workaround for the moment could be to go around Ant Movie Catalog and import the data from EMM's Access-database to AMC and save the database as XML, which
the MyFilms plugin for MediaPortal can read without problems.

If you are using Ant Movie Catalog to produce the XML file, you have to choose the correct fields in the import window, because the automatic method choose some wrong database fields, but you will see this.
