Hello,

Norton 360 Security sees the new scriptupdate utility as a kind of virus
and removes it.

I was able to get it back and exclude it for Norton, but I just wanted to let you know.

For the rest XMM works great for me and I love it.

Greetings,

Hello,
I have updated Script Updater to the latest version from above link and it didn't work. When i'm checking for update i have receive this message:
"" '2.05.2012 06:30:00' ist keine gultige Datums und - Uhrzeitangabe"

After that i have installed full release 7.2.2.7 and this message still exist. It's impossible to update program release neither scripts!

Dear JDommi,

let me start first with the result of installing the version you linked above. After installing it I do not get the message as i had before but instead I see something is opening and closing a moment later so the result is the same from my perspective which is: not working. Let me also say this install won't run if you try to run it from the default download folder (in my case subfolder of Mozilla Firefox) as it then informed me there's no myrelease.txt file there. After copying to the subfolder "LiveUpdateTemp" of XMM installation path it worked but with non satisfactory result (described above). Then let's get back to your assumptions. NO, I do not have poor internet connection: I have 16MB/1MB and it's working fine as I also tried that when I had this problems. And NO, I'm not behind the proxy server. You're right, I'm still able to download the data of the movies - it's working fine. By the way I'm also developer and I know there's no way to get rid of all errors or issues but at the same time if this version is still not stable why the old one was removed from XMM at the first place?? These are not minor errors: this is rather major problem if it does not update the scripts while it's main functionality is to do that. And finally let me tell one more thing. This is the commercial release of the application, right?? So you cannot expect the end user will play with different install programs, folders, files, settings etc. He should get one install program with all things working. Now you propose to install different versions, to copy files, to report to Symantec etx. Fine for someone who knows what he's doing and who have time and patience to do that but that's not the way it should work, don;t you think?? Kindly request to check it once again as there's something wrong here. I can deliver you any details if it can help to solve the problem which I'm really looking forward to.

Sorry for your vexations.
Please keep in mind that a new prog can have bugs, even if you think that there aren't any more.
The Norton360 problem is known. Another user wanted to write an email to them because of the false alert.
To the problem of the internet connectivity: As the updater is a separate program it is only checking the connection for itself. So don't worry about updating your movies!
To explain why this message occurs: I try to download the Changelog of XMM to the LiveUpdateTemp folder. If the file doesn't exists there after "downloading" the Updater assumes that Ale's Server isn't available for the moment. The only reason I can imagine at the moment is that you had no or a very poor connection while trying.
Another possibility could be that you are behind a proxy - I don't know if in that case the Updater does work.

Please try this release: https://www.dropbox.com/s/raymbmby638ttew/ScriptUpdater.exe

ok, for the few recent releases of XMM, since the totally new version of updater was in it, even for once it have not worked properly. First a new window was shown but the buttons releasing updating were not enabled, then I had some german messages when trying to open it. In the newest release from 4th of May when I click on updater icon in XMM all I get is the message: "No Internet Connectivity or Website Not Available at the moment. Please try again later". That is really strange since there's nothing wrong with my connection. Can you please do something to have it working in official version of XMM cause without this functionality, it's kind of useless for creating new movie records. I also tried to download new version of ScriptUpdater itself but seems like Norton 360 disables it as I cannot do anything with it after downloading. If you cannot fix please go back to the previous technology, as it was working.

Bug found.
It happens when a script is in the Scripts folder but not in LiveUpdateTemp\Scripts.
Please leave all scripts in the Temp folder until I have solved that problem. Will be difficult because these temp scripts are used to check against updated scripts (Last-Modified Date). The "normal" scripts will get a new modification sate everytime you change the Advanced Script Options for so that comparing with them could miss an update in the worst case.

The new scriptudater (1.0.5.4) says that "the scripts cannot be found in LiveUpdateTemp folder". I copied the scripts to that folder, and the scriptupdater recognized them. However, everytime I run scriptupdater it says the same scripts need updating. I download the updates, then if I run scriptudater 5 minutes later, it says the same scripts need updating. How do I know if I have the newest scripts if it continuously tells me there are new updates? I have done a fresh "full" install of EMM 7.2.2.7.

Yes, that error was my fault. I simply have forgotten to detect if a specific file exists or not. Shouldn't occur anymore.

An addition to the message that new scripts are available in XMM:
This message comes up as Ale has to replace the original update check. This check doesn't know all the additions of the new updater. Please keep patient 'til next XMM release.

Just downloaded the new one and if I click update
the window flashes on the screen and then closes
with no update's downloaded.

Edit: cancel above I found a rouge copy of the updater
running in task manager, killed it and all work's fine

cheers

Release 1.0.5.3 - Hopefully bug free now!
Same link(s) as above
JDommi Posted - 01 May 2012 : 18:01:31
Does this error occurs before the windows is visible? If so then I have simply forgotten to upload this file on the new server.
If the message occurs when the window is already shown, then I have to look at the routine. Although after all those testing there shouldn't be any error... Unfortunately I'm now at work - so I can't test it today.
The Updates are handled a little bit different from the "old" one. When deleting scripts that you never want to use you just have to add them to the exlude list and delete them after that. Same for the unfixed scripts. I personally have begun with a backup of my script folder and then deleting every script in the original one. Now I have added all scripts I will never use to the exclude list. Then I have updated all other scripts. Think of showing/excluding the unfixed scripts, too.
ronbug4444 Posted - 01 May 2012 : 16:00:39
When I tried to use your latest version, a German text box popped up saying that lista.txt could not be found. I found it in the liveupdate folder and moved it to the folder scriptupdater was looking in. The past scriptudater did not give me this error. Also, everytime I open EMM, it says I have script updates, even if I just updated them. Everytime I run scriptupdate, it says the same scripts need updated. Last...what are unfixed scripts? Whenever I check to "delete" unfixed scripts, they are still there the next time I run scriptudater. It's very confusing when it keeps saying that there are new scripts when I just updated them.

Thanks!

Thanks, that's quick. And good luck with the new server.
JDommi Posted - 01 May 2012 : 13:43:12
Now it's done. New version and a new server.

or the packed version
http://jdommi.jd.funpic.de/extremeupdater/ScriptUpdater.rar

This is release 1.0.5.2
Madhouse Posted - 30 Apr 2012 : 19:22:11
Ok, I understand.

Thanks in advance.
JDommi Posted - 30 Apr 2012 : 17:55:24
I'll upload it later in the evening (after work). The problem why your version doesn't work is that at the moment there are problems with my own webspace used for the updates. For that I can't upload anything.
On Ale's server there is no possibility to.

Hello,

Downloaded v1.0.5.1 at mediafire.com, but this version don't work at all.

Then tried to go back to v1.0.4.2 but I can not download any version anymore from mediafire, except the latest.

Besides that, Symantec/Norton thinks mediafire.com is an unsafe site (fishing and so on)and blocks it.

How can I get a working version of scriptupdater now?

Greetings,
