All my TV episodes are gone. They're still in the database somewhere (I know this because it says so when I try to update them) but there's no way to access them from the TV show's entry.

Maybe someone can add the episodes to the card. Otherwise you could switch the grid to show all episodes of a special show.
But you have to select each show exclusively in the TreeView.

Thanks I think it was that I was using a movie card that doesn't handle episodes!

Well, try a doubleclick on the Show to open the editor. On tab Episodes check if there are any entries and of cource is the checkbox ticked to identify it as TV Show.
Beside that some cards like the simple card doesn't handle episodes.
