This used to be such good software. It is absolutely useless now. None of the scripts that I use work anymore. (dvdempire bluray, amazon, bluray.com) The only one that I can get to work is IMDB.com. Alessio never seems to be on here anymore, and when he is, he says he's busy or is on vacation. He wasn't too busy to take my money. I've got movies stacking up that I cannot add to the database unless I do everything manually.

Hello Guys,

Thank you very much for all your patience... you are right, last year I have not develop XMM like I want, I am trying to go back on it.

Please if you have made some improvements in some script send it to me, I will upload into server for everyone.

Thank you!

Beside the little bugs XMM is still the only prog that fits the most wishes. So there is no real alternative...

@pink
I don't think that Ale will do such.

Thank you JDommi! Your help is really apreciated! Any suggestion to move to any other software? In the last times I had some random crashes without message errors. Thank you again and best whishes!! J

Could not Alessio "pass" the development of the project to someone else (even temporarily)? So it does not die? I love this software (one of the few that i gladly bought) but i'm sorry to see it so abandoned...

Thank you! I will give it a try.

Try to use my debugger plugin. It's a little bit better than the original as it shows syntax errors and the correct use of the commands.
Beside that it has jump marks and a few other things that are missing in the internal one.

Thanks for some answers, though I was hoping XMM would continue. I would fix my scripts, but I don't have a clue how...LOL At least I can get some info with the IMDB script...for now at least.

Well, then I'm old and (hopefully) wise enough to
Fortunately I'm still not as old as I may look like - otherwise I would be already in retirement
washandgo Posted - 17 Dec 2015 : 22:00:30
passing in 2020, the database is locked, closed imdb, you retire?
JDommi Posted - 17 Dec 2015 : 21:55:59
Time will tell... and hopefully before 2020 *lol*
I have asked Ale a few times what he wanna do but I didn't got any concrete answer.
Sometimes I feel like the sole survivor here in the forum

Google traslation

It really is a problem, I've been looking at others and I have not found anything worthwhile. I will continue trying to correct the errors Filmaffinity though I any repair costs many times, I have no idea of programming, failure imdb day be dead.
No future that awaits XMM bad ... but I see it.

If it's true, it's a pity, indeed. We were promised "great news" a year ago, and although I had lost hope, I kept reading the forum, because no other software I've tried this year was remotely as good as XMM in its good days. I still use JRMC as player, it's a great media manager, but unfortunately they flatly refuse to enhance it's scraping abilities. So, no real alternative.

As a father and as a working man, I can somehow relate with Ale's inability to keep up with this project. But I've used XMM for more than 10 years and I'm surely going to miss it. I do hope some solution could be found to revitalise it...

Hi guys

it seems that it didn't get around that xMM is dead :

http://dvd-collection-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

BTW1: Tried most of the movie managment software on the market, most of all DVD profiler, Movie Collector, MyMovies and Movie Label. All of these programs came with their own database (that means no IMDB or other sources). This has advantages (easy synchronisation PC/Tablet/Smaertphone, One-Click-Download of movie data) but also disadvantages (no other sources, limited/no custom data, what happens when the programmer shuts down the database?). The only program that I really can recommend is DVD profiler. But only when you collect commercially available DVDs and Blu-rays. Movie Collector has a bad database, MyMovies has a bad windows program, Movie label is in between.

BTW2: Until further notice I will stay with xMM and additionally DVD profiler. Maybe we can have a closer look during christmas holidays on the bad scripts, but I have to admit that I didn't do scripting in the last few years.

BTW3: I have given up to force a programmer to do things (=fix bugs) he doesn't want to do. But I have to admit that I'm a little bit diappointed that their is no clear announcement from Alessio how things will going on.

Bye Byte

Me, too.
Maybe I will correct the one or two scripts that I really need. But I think that will soon fall asleep, too.
ronbug4444 Posted - 17 Dec 2015 : 17:16:39
It's sad...I liked this software. I don't even know what to use now, everything that I've tried doesn't even come close. I guess I could try DVD Profiler.

Well, I'm afraid that binaryworks is a dying breed.

The success of XMM always was a combination of Ale AND the users who were willing to work on the scripts. But if the most important part has no more time anymore those users are leaving, too.

For me personally I'm thinking of leaving, too. The captain leaves his sinking ship as last - unfortunately Ale was one of the first.
The crumbs of bread in form of new releases once or twice a year that even don't try to fix any bug can't practice a fraud on the fact that XMM seems to be dead.

Will be a good thing not to have to delete the tons of spam nearly daily when I really decide to stay away...
