is it possible to have more than one database. I would like to do one for dvds and one for blu-ray. TIA

You can have as many databases as you feel you want to create, just flick between them with OPEN DATABASE FILE.
The problem with splitting the DVD's from the BLU-RAYS is that you will have to duplicate the actors (People) etc.
Far easier to have it all in one database and then use filters to split DVD from BLU-RAYS in my opinion.
