Here is a post i wrote a few minutes ago on the IMDB forum about their "advanced search" that gives stranged results (in fact, i think many problems with the script are coming from IMDB, not (all) from the script itself).
I discovered this by having problems myself to import some TV shows data in XMM8, and trying to fix the issues.

I repeat that the problems explained in the following lines are on the IMDB site ! I'm waiting for their answer ...

Search by title only in "advanced search" gives strange results

Point 1 :
If i use the advanced search by completing the title field only (in my case, it was "Law & Order"), no criteria about top 10 of so, the '&' causes problems (special symbol used by HTML to "post" replies). So my search criteria becomes "law" ... en there are a lot of matching data ... !
The "&" has to be encoded in another way background when it's a real data and no HTML symbol.
This happens in many places.
I didn't check for other symbols.
'&' has to be used if you want to find "Law & Order" exactly ...

When "law & order" is used in the main search field for a title search (I mean the big one on the main page), i've got many results. But if i want to filter them with the "Exact title matches", there again the '&' gives an issue because on my next page i read "Displaying 10 results for 'law'" - my "& order" has disappaered (same problem as before).

Point 2 :
In advanced search, i search again "Law & Order" but this time with 2 title types checked : "TV Series" and "Mini-Series" (to be sure i've got all) :
this time the "&" gives no issue but the result is :
- Law & Order Special Victims Unit: Russia (???) (i'm logged from Belgium - is it something that we ignore about our status :-) ?)
- Law & Order (1990 TV Series) - OK for this one with Sam Waterston
- Law & Order (1978 Mini-Series) (???) - no idea

That's all
I don't get "Law & Order SVU" (the non russian one), i don't get "Law & Order L.A."

If you have problems to find titles containing the symbol "&", try to replace it with "%26".
Example :
Law %26 Order
