I have just installed the new version 8.0.1.6 and converted the old XMM7 database. Everything seems fine, but the new XMM8 has an extensive memory usage of 1.136 MB - the old XMM7 also had a high usage of 300-400 MB, but this is nothing against the new version.

I have 4.606 movies and 119.933 actors in the database.

Is this the new normal memory usage??

I'm on a windows 7, ultimate x64, SP1 machine.

Alessio - you have to get this extreme memory usage under control. I would say, that an usage of 300-400 MB RAM should be maximum.

You can still get my database if you want to try it out for yourself. XMM also takes 40-60 seconds to start up in version 8.0.2.2. One minute
is a long time to wait here in 2012 ;O)

Now on a Windows 8 machine with 4GB RAM and Intel Q8200 2.33GHz

I have the same problem with excesive memory usage too. 1.070.100 KB according to Windows Task Manager.

Yes I have.

OK... have you restart XMM after you have remove the photo, right?

Thank you!

I've 3 panels open. The Grid, Treeview and the HTML card (movie_bigcover.htm)

If I open the People's Grid there were photos also. Now I have removed photo from the Grid and now the following fields are shown:

Name
Age
Sex
Birth Date
Birth Place
Country

But still a tremendous memory usage at over 1GB....., but stable memory usage, it's not increasing over time or decreasing for that matter ;=)

OK, What do you have in the People's Grid?

Maybe loading the photos here can cause large amount of memory...
HaraldBluetooth Posted - 24 Oct 2012 : 08:13:38
The old database is 989 MB large and the new only 682 MB. If I open the new database in Microsoft Access it only use 32MB RAM, but I know this isn't the same.

I could easily zip the database and upload for your further investigation, because this memory usage is unacceptable, don't you think. The zipped database is only 74 MB.

If I open the example database (with 9 movies) the memory usage is 378 MB in my system and I have always disabled the actors photos in moviecards.

In the grid I only have the following fields open:

Media Icon
Original Title
Movie ID
Title
Rating

..and I use grid view.

I don't know exactly, probably thew new database structure (now there are more tables to link informations.

Prinz, XMM 8 crash all the time??

Ale

XMM8 uses about twice as much memory as XMM7 here on my PC. If XMM8 even starts and not crashes all the time with the new versions...
