Hi,
This is a bit in accordance with what Laffer has already suggested, but then a bit broader.
I've just started using you program (it's awesome!! my deepest thanks for creating it!) and I've submitted an earlier database of mine into it >800 movies.
Soon I will have a home theatre pc on which I am planning to put and code all my movies.
Now it is possible that I missed it, but as far as I can see there is an option to scan you pc for movies and then entering them, but there isn't an option to scan you pc and linking the found files (automatically in case of correct name) to the DB entries.
So currently I would need to manually import the file location to all entries, which is a bit contrary to the spirit of the program :). Therefore, it would be great if you could make an option to scan the pc for movies AND linking them to current DB entries (together with the option Laffer already asked for concerning scanning for codecs, duration, etc.).

Some other usefull but less 'needed' features:
- an option to scan the DB for double entries
- a 'Loaned' checkbox with the series
- shortcut keys to the different options (preferably be able to appoint them yourselve) especially for running scripts
- an option to scan the current database and placing 'The' behind the names (next to the option to this when you import the movies).

Thinking further on this.
If you want to make it really neat and tidy I guess the best option is to scan the HD for movie files. Put them in an memory array and start checking them against the DB entries (both user title and original title), in case of 1 on 1 you make the link automatically in all other cases you ask for user interaction, with the option: "add as new entry into database"
In this manner you overt double entries when scanning and adding files from disk AND you create a function with which you can later on link movies on the HD to the DB entries (my original request).
In addendum to this you can scan for codec, duration etc. (Laffers' request)
I guess this would not be a 'script' solution but a embedded feature. |

Unfortunately at this time scripts cannot be used to scan the hard disk but only to import information from internet.
I will try to find a "workaround" or maybe a dedicated function to do this.

I was already thinking of this and realised that it is quite similar to what the scripts do. If you would use a script you could select the DB entries of which you know the files are on the pc and then run the script to search one or more directories.
In case of a 1 on 1 match (perfect match of title) you automatically link them and in doubtful cases you ask the user for confirmation (as is done with the scripts.
I am totally not familiar with script writing and I do not know if you can use the script language to scan you disks, but if this would be possible than a solution in that manner is possible.
Unfortunately I do not have the skills to write such a scipt myself.

This is a good idea, but how XMM could link a file to a movie? Maybe XMM can search a file with the same name of the movie title? Of course any suggestion is appreciated
