It would be a lot more easier if we could add topics to "Watch" and get an email if any reply has been posted.

Thanks,
Erke

As mentioned above, it's worth a look at the converter to phpBB 2.0.6. Though once in phpBB 2.0.6 it can easily be upgraded to the latest version. The problem is you may need/ or have visibilty access to the database security information, user security information, so would be best to Ale to impliment. Once its in phpBB, it should be possible to assign others the ability to configure the site. I read the guide, and it looks quite straight forward. It is possible EVERY user may require to retrieve and change their password.

There is one potential issue as mentioned in the last post here http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=30845

Since I know Ale is EXTREMELY busy making enhancements and bug fixes to the products we use, I suggest that those most interested in forum migration do some leg work on helping resolve the problems. If Ale can make some of the data available, that would be a good start. Then perhaps we can put the process together to do the migration. Ale will still have to perform it but at least its perhaps a better use of his time.

BTW: I too would like a new forum application to work with... maybe not as much as XMM updates since I use the product MUCH more than the Fourm.

Sorry to come to this topic without anything useful to add to it but since Alessio is reading this one I would ask him to go read this one too please.

Hi Ale,

that is great news and I believe, this will be well appreciated from all the cummunity members.

As I don't have another direct line to you, could you pls. have a look on this thread? http://www.binaryworks.it/forum/topic.asp?whichpage=0.65&TOPIC_ID=7621#23454

Thanks in advance

Hello Guys,

I will try to upgrade the forum, I don't know when because I think it takes some time...

another feature, I was looking for in the last 20 Minutes:

send a PM to a user

Or is this possible anyway, but I just couldn't find?
JDommi Posted - 12 Jan 2012 : 17:31:02
Unfortunately I don't have any idea of forum software so I only can agree that this forum is not as user friendly as others.
myhtpc Posted - 12 Jan 2012 : 16:08:24
and thread / sub-forum specific search
and online status of users
and, and, and . . .

The problem I see is, that the gap between Snitz and the others will get bigger and bigger and not the other way around
JDommi Posted - 12 Jan 2012 : 10:35:09
I fully agree. Especially the Watch function would be really useful...

Hi Ale,

it seems, that this Snitz version is almost 3 years old, or am I wrong?

At least it doesn't look modern style nor does it have state-of-the-art features.

Being part of several boards / forums, some of them have moved to new software in the past, so there seems to be migration paths for this.

I had a look on Snitz's website and found some competition there. Maybe these two could be interesting for you:

http://www.pd9soft.com/Default.aspx
http://www.phpbb.com/showcase/?sid=cb09fb75dc5fdc2eb3ef9f685556eacd

They both have their own communities and for MegaBBS, I found:
http://www.codango.com/asp/fnc/review/?tree=aspin/webapps/bbs&id=4613310
http://www.pd9soft.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=4344&start=1.

Wouldn't it be worth to spend some time checking if a migration would be possible without loosing users / posts?
Maybe a poll from you in your community would help out to see the interests. Maybe there are users here who have some experience to help you finding a better board-SW or help you in migrating it?

Just my thoughts ;-)

myhtpc

P.S. I'm not a SW expert, just interested to improve EMM and the community

I am sorry Erke, but the forum doesn't allow this. I am using the Snitz forum, and I cannot change it for another forum type because I don't want lose all topics.

Alessio
