Posted - 23 Sep 2011 : 17:15:44 I honestly believe this is the future. I hope Alessio will be an early adopter. We all know this would be a big undertaking and it wont happen overnight. If you do decided to take it up I will support you. |

Posted - 25 Sep 2011 : 21:19:10 I don't like the entire look and feel of the new System. That's something for a Tablet-PC / Smartphone and not for a normal Desktop-PC.
And many people I know don't like it. |

Posted - 25 Sep 2011 : 17:03:00 I remember the conversations about switching to a diffrent DB platform. I think they where all in the contex of making an easiser path to mobile XMM, I think the die has been cast on that question. Going forward MetroUI only supports the silverlight like data access models, Isolated Storage and WCF RIA Services. Gone will be the MDB, but the the options open up for web based or Sync based access to XMM. This is even good for posbile mono versions compatable with iPhone or Android.
Like Alessio said it will be a major undertaking to migrate XMM to the new framework. None of the custom controls would port over to the new version. All of XMM's database logic would have to be rewritten in LINQ.
I don't want to presume to tell anyone what to do but I think an good migration path would be to implement local storage and RIA in XMM 7 and create a read only shell for MetroUI/Windows phone 7 and posibly Mono/Android (iphone does not yet support isolated storage) |

Posted - 25 Sep 2011 : 07:05:51 Access is maybe not good as mySQL, but everyone has office installed and its easy to open and to extract info from it.
Also for people that create plugins is more easy manage access.

Posted - 24 Sep 2011 : 07:43:17 Hello LordKiwi!
Probably you are able to read minds
its exactly what I am looking for for XMM 8 this morning
Probably it will take a lot of time doing it, because this means rewrite XMM from scratch, in a different language. For sure I will change also the database structure, more like XMusicM.
Every suggestion is welcome of course...
Thank you! |
