Posted - 15 Dec 2004 : 11:52:07 Currently, if you ask XMM to get actoer information from the web it (almost always) asks you to select an actor from a list because there are many entries in IMDB with the name you have searched for. For example, "Adam Clark" lists four names and gives one (the last?) movie for each.
Mostly XMM knows what movies Adam Clark has played in because it can find the movies for an actor. Would it be practical (everything is possible!!!) to amend the script so that it looked up each actor on the IMDB list for the name in question until XMM found the correct actor (from the actor movie combination) and then have XMM download the info. For those who have never tried, when you look up an actor on IMDB, you get, among other things, a list of the movies
I understand it might take a while to process but it is only computer time after all!!!
Just a thought from someone with 4000 actors on his database!!!!

Posted - 13 Jan 2006 : 22:10:07 Mmmm, can you ZIP and send your DB to me? So I can make some tests.
The new XMM is different, so should be also more quick to load.
Thank you!

Posted - 13 Jan 2006 : 21:59:39 Hhhmmm - Disappointing that there has been no movement on this item. My database now has 24,000 actors and response is awful opening the actors tab and, indeed opening and closing the application. I just changed the order of the actors from Actor Id to Actor and XMM thought for nearly 11 minutes before giving me a new list!!!!
By mistake, I opened the Add/Edit box for actors and then immediately shut it down. XMM took around 7 minutes (and task manager showed is was using around 40% of my 3GHz processor - it is also doing an Xvid compress at the same time). What on earth is XMM doing?

Posted - 15 Dec 2004 : 21:40:14 Hi,
Your idea is really cool, but also not so easy to implement. I will think to that, maybe in future (I must first make the "Batch IMDB Import" for movies)
Thank you,
