Posted - 02 Jun 2012 : 19:17:05 As there where problems for the first attempt of replacing the original LiveUpdate this is the second try. The check against time and date between the existing scripts and the scripts on the server is not longer used. Instead of the downloaded scripts will get a UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) timestamp inside themselves. For that the first time you are using the new updater all scripts will be downloaded just to be sure that you are really having the latest releases. Next time you are checking you will recognize that this type of check will be much faster and safer than the old way. By that way thanks again to Prinz for this great idea and his help. As remark I have to say that the scripts downloaded by the new updater will work like before. Otherwise the scripts downloaded with the old LiveUpdate will always recognized as old releases as the #UTC# line is missing. For testing purposes you are only able to start the updater manually from any folder you are copying it to even if XMM is not actually running. Just input xmm on startup. The other progs are at the moment not working as an important file on the server is not activated yet.
I hope that many users will help to test it any report their comments, too!
Thanks in advance.

Posted - 27 Jun 2012 : 20:22:08 V2.0.0.3 is available as a Component-Update needed a modification of the download routine. No need to download it as the updater loads it automatically. So on next start the actual release will be available. |

Posted - 27 Jun 2012 : 00:26:36 Yes I do the same, its a pity that only 5 people have given it a try as its much faster than the XMM built in. at some stage would be good to enable the update MovieCards as well.
cheers

Posted - 26 Jun 2012 : 07:34:02 As long as only 5 people seem to have tested the new updater... I don't know. But I use it myself since then ignoring the update messages from within XMM. |

Posted - 03 Jun 2012 : 23:42:27 I just got your email. Either it took a while to get to me or you are working late. If so, that's dedication!
I ran the EXE and everything was good. I especially like how it downloads everything and then it doesn't go away. That gives the ability to review anything that did not get downloaded and re-select items if desired. I did a test for that by selecting most of the items I wanted to update but not everything. The Updater downloaded the items I checked and then presented the list of remaining items. I selected a few more and the Updater downloaded them just fine.
Very nice! |
