Posted - 21 Jan 2005 : 20:31:13 I don't know if this has been talked about before but I think XMM could easily be modified to work with ebook files. I have looked at other ebook catalog programs but I have been spoiled by the great features and ease of use of XMM. Most of the other programs are designed to be used with physical book collections and force you to work with the catalog (isbn) number of the book. XMM does such a great job with using just title searches - especially the mass title add. I have thousands of ebooks to catalog.
There's an Internet Book Database (IBDB) project in its infancy on sourceforge (http://ibdp.sourceforge.net/) and there are already other databases that are available now: http://www.iblist.com/ http://www.ibdof.com/ http://library.thebookforum.com/ and of course Amazon etc
In fact, I think XMM could be usable for this purpose now if there are any script experts to create the scripts.
This could blow the other Book Catalog programs out of the water since XMM is so flexible and has such great ease of use.
Any ideas? |

Posted - 26 Jan 2005 : 03:20:39 Thanks Alessio - I know you're very busy. This could just overtake all the other book catalog programs around. I think I'll start on some scripting for it when I get back from Mexico :)
PS - It would be cool to get someone to program a module for scanning bar codes for the different eXtreme series. http://www.readerware.com/rwfreecc.html
Thanks again! |
