Hi Guys,
I have upload the new Alpha just now.
The first Release Candidate is not far, I have left really few things to do. All Engines are completed and working.
I must deeply tests all things (and for that I ask your help).
There are also a lot of new scripts and moviecards to do, so if you want help on this I will appreciate very much.
The Movie Grid "Refresh" is still slow, I need to optimize it.

It's strange with FTP Manager, I have try several things but all seem OK. I will make more tests on it this night.

I have delete the way you can select the grid fields, this because I have rewrite the grid visualization. In next release (I think alpha 9) you will be able to select fields from a dedicated window.
Your idea about "user-defined" grid views is really good, I will try to implement it.
About filters: I don't know exactly where put it, I haven't work on it yet. Maybe I can add in the Search section.

With other ftp programs there is no problem. Server uses Serve-U software. It's very strange. I can login, the directories are displayed in the right window, but when I take a look into the servers logfiles it seems that I'm logged in for O seconds.
Further comments:
Fields selection in grid: field names should be displayed alphabetically.
Refresh of grid (e.g. after change fields) is very very slow (even on a P4). Display of covers is not very good. We should be able to define the size of the covers in grid (or an adjustment of cover size to the column width). Possibility to select between several user-defined grid views will be necessary (e.g. one only for covers like the old thumbnail view, one for movie list etc.)
When (and where) will see the filters in xMM 5.0?

Empty fields should remain empty after import!

I only can select MovieID, Title, OriginalTitle, media, genre, Subgenre, Category, Edition, CatalogNo, Year, UPC, Country, OriginalLanguage, Language, Studio, Distributor, MPAA. All other data fields are not available in the table.[Fixed in Alpha 9]

Add movies with internal webbrowser: Is there a special script necessary (if yes: how can I write one?) With ordinary IMDB script I can't select quick download and title year in options, only title and several "0" are imported[Sorry, there was a bug, now seem to be OK (alpha 9)]
Movie cards: complete list for html-replacer necessary, as some are not displayed correctly (screen ratio, number of cd,...), not available any longer as data fields (DVD-ID) or unknown for new data fields.
FTP manager: when opening a directory on server, error message "an unhandled exception has occured (System.ApplicationException: Directory should start with / )"

I have fix the problem with CSV and I have import 3000 movies from the CSV (80000 are really too much )
All will be ready in alpha 9
Please report others bugs if you found, these days I am focused on bug fixing.

my comments to the new alpha:
- Import of old database: Starring is not imported correctly, MovieID is still not the old one, Date Last loan/Date Seen/Date Purchased are 01.01.1900, Date Of Insert/Last Modify has the import date, Media year wrong (for example: "02.10.2003" became "2"), Price not correctly (for example "14,95 €" became "14").
- Some fields that are empty in xMM 4.8 now contain the value "0". [Some fields are numerical now, so the default value is 0 (like year)]
- Export:
Why can you only select a few data fields for export? [Maybe it's a bug, because if you export in CSV or TXT you can select all fields]
What will be the difference between (x)HTML-Database and Advanced (x)HTML-DB? I there a need for that differentiation? [The (x)HTML-DB is the same as 4.8, the advanced is the Memtronic's generator (GENERALHTML2DB) that allo you to export every fields]
-Grid:
MovieID sort is wrong (1, 10, 101, ...).[Fixed in Alpha 9]
Old icons for media (dvd, vhs) are missing; it would be nice to use own icons / exhange default icons [In alpha 9 (I hope) you will be able to exchange default icons]
-Add/Edit window I want to see more "dropdown menues" for selection (like for the "status" field) for "Country, Genre, Orig. Language, Media, Studio, MPAA Rating,Codec, Resolution, Audio, Region, Screen Ratio, Packaging, Video Standard, Video Mode, Location, Owner, Aquired From, Movie Type, Colour [Yes, I will do this in next releases]
-for Subtitle, Media Language, Audio Format, Features it would be nice to have a button next to the data field where you can open a multiselection window.[I will take a look]
-Will there be a quickedit view also for series and actors?
I would like to see a possibility to "fade-in" the movie search tab under the grid (like the old quick search)[I can make a quick search, I will think to this]
-Movie Cover in Quickedit view and Cover Manager: no enlargement possible [Sorry, I haven't do it yet]
-Missing "Total Movies Listed" display
-Cover Manager: missing possibilty to start cover print manager directly from cover manager menue, cover size should be configurable, change the order of the covers by drag and drop
- CSV-Import: Tried to import web's most complete dvd list(http://hometheaterinfo.com/dvdlist.htm). All fields are recognized but "DVD_Title" field (the first field in the csv file) has got the ID "0". When I try to associate "DVD_Title" with "Title" field I get the error message (The Titel cannot be NULL,...) when starting the import.
-Moviecards: Not all data seem to be displayed, because html-recplacer of field content is displayed (e.g. for screenratio). What are the viariables for the new fields? Is there any update also for the extended (x)html-db?

Great.
A good thing I think it could be great in a next release is to use a table as for starring for audio and subtitles too. And the great for the import of original DVD is to add automatically audio track and subtitles in the respective fields and not only in the field notes.

Hi Cyrille,
I have see this bug only now.
This morning I have completely re-written the code for Movie Grid, and the result is really good.
Before changes, loading 1500 movies take 14 seconds, now only 2 seconds.
This two seconds for loading 1500 movies are for image loading (I mean the Media Icons).
I will try to reduce the loading time more, but will be hard.

Great improvement in this release. I like very much Quick Guide and Video tutorial in future.
The FTP Manager seems good (I have tried it yet).
Thank you very much for adding starring in a table.
I think I have found a bug with the Internet import. I have used your exemple database with 4 movies. If I select Amélie Poulain to import information from Internet. The import works great but after close the import windows, in the list of movies (4 movies), I have twice the movie Amélie Poulain that I have imported (with the samed id the list) and the movie 3 Terminator 3 has disappeared. And if I refresh the view, I have the 4 movies, and Amélie Poulain only once and I have Terminator 3 again. [Fixed in ALpha 9]

If you have MS Access, open the database, go in the "Tools" menu, "Database Utility" and compact it.
After that, just ZIP the MDB and send it to me.

If I click in the Chains Manager on one of the columns on the table (the table on the bottom of the window) my CPU gets up to 100%.

Can you make the welcome screen a dialog instead of a window (If you know what I mean)? [Done in ALpha 9]
I disabled the welcome screen on start... where can I enable it without manipulating the registry? [Done in Alpha 9]

Thank you very much for the report. I am sorry for these problems, the "fixing bugs" phase is always a "terrible beast". now that all main features are ready I can focus on bug fixing deeply.

New (and old) impressions:
1. When I import movies from my 4.8 db I get 3372 out of 3484 movies imported! I couldn't figure out which and why it missed!?
2. There is no possibility to Multiple Change category!? [Done in Alpha 9]
3. Group by Category doesn't work![Fixed in Alpha 9]
---------SUGGESTION: Add category as new field in Quick Edit View to be seen in Movie Tab (there's planty of space)
4. MOVIE ID sorts false: for example it sorts 3738, 3739, 374, 3740,... 3987, 399, 400,...[Fixed in Alpha 9]
5. Why can't covers be seen in real size when clicked like before? [Done in Alpha 9]
SUGGESTIONS
6. COVERS directory should be browsable
7. PERSONAL RATING field should be sortable on mouse click
8. In previous versions of XMM there were two very useful and clever things that are now gone: 1. Finding a movie in list by typing first letters of title...[Done in Alpha 9]
2. When double clicked on actor it would automaticly find and list only movies in database with that actor in it. Plus I would like to suggest same thing with director name![Done in Alpha 9, but you have to right-click]
It's getting better and better but it's still very unstable: when importing, changing views, group by... I got really nervous trying to make new database and import from old. I captured one of errors reported...[I have correct some bugs in Importing old database, should be OK now]
