I am great fan of this program and use it a lot. I have tried quite a few 5.x versions, but still keep on using 4.8.

The functionality of 5.x is so very unclear in a lot of situations.

For example if i want to add a movie using IMDB i type in movie. I then have to use a drop down list (why has the quick button been removed, i have to use 3 extra clicks for every movie?) to select my default script. Then for some reason i have to press another! button to go to next phase. Then it goes and retrieves information but hardly anything is imported.

I have tried it with different PCs, different databases but the functionality just seems to be incorrect or very very unclear.

I certainly hope future development of 5.x will include more logical functionality and cut down on the major number of mouse clicks. Until that time i am sticking to 4.8.

Hi Jamestan,

I will try to add shortcuts like old 4.8. Anyway, I have make import procedure more quick, from next release there is no need to press "Next Phase" button.

Bye!

I could do that with a click using Chain shortcut key in 4.8, just F6. In XMM 5, I have to click a LOT of mouse and there is NO shortcut !

Hi John,

You are right, the "Quick Import" in 4.8 was more quick. I will try to add the Quick button without go in submenues, so will be more easy.

About the Double-click: I have forget to put the function to start download (without press "Next phase") in the Edit window. Sorry.

If you try the quick import in Main window you will see that after double-click on links XMM start to import information automatically.

Bye!

Alessio,
I have tried the new version, but i dont notice any difference between the previous version in the way i use it. Let met explain by a step to step guide. I have indicated where 5.2 is a loss of functionality compared to 4.8

1. I press the Add Movies button
2. I fill in the title
3. <Loss of functionality>:In 4.8 I now had a Quick button. In 5.2 I have to select the small arrow and then select a sub menu option to use my default script.
4. I double click on the link for the correct movie
5. <Loss of functionality>:In 4.8 after double clicking on the correct link, EMM would go an retrieve the information. In 5.2 after i double click i have to click a strange button named "Next Phase"
6. The movie is imported

This is the way i always use Extreme Movie Manager, and i can imagine more people do as it seems quite logical. So for now its back to 4.8 again. But knowing you, you will have this fixed in some next version :)

Cheers,
John

Hi,

I have finish this feature just now. If you use the Quick Import you will no more need to press the "Next Phase" button, just double click on Link.

I hope to release XMM 5.2.0.0 tomorrow or Sunday.

Bye!

Hi johnamst,

I have understand your problem. In next release I will do this : if you use "QuickImport", XMM will not ask you to press "NEXT PHASE" button, it simply will start download all informations automatically.

With this modification I think that 5.x will be like 4.8.

Thank you!

perhaps i have missed some of the functionlity and i will have a further look into it. But the way is always use moviemanager, batch import is no use.

What i do is, i download a dvd and burn it, then i add that one DVD to movie manager. I do this with the add movie option, fill in the title and the click on quick import. Then i am done. This procedure was very straight forward in 4.8 and seems to be more complicated in 5.x. I see myself having to click much more then in 4.8.

One way this would prob be solved is by having a configurable toolbar and also removing the "Next Phase" button. I am really confused by that button. I double click on a link and i still have to press next phase button. In 4.8, a double click was all i needed to do.

So again, with some slight modifications 5.x will prob be the version i will be using at some point and i will certainly check the updates every now and then.

Hi johnamst

I am always open to all suggestions for make XMM better and better, anyway I think that XMM 5.x is really much better that 4.8

You have the quickimport with default script also in 5.x and the main thing, that can really speed-up your import process, is the Batch Import.

In the old 4.8 you must select the link for every movie and wait until the import is complete. With new 5.x you can select all links in one step and after import all informations automatically with Batch procedure (maybe in the night).

The Batch procedure is a big improvement, because with this you can re-import movies all times you want.

I want write an example : If you import a movie now with IMDB you will not take awards (I need to finish the script).
Next days, when the new script will be ready, you must only use the Batch Import, select all movies you want re-import and XMM will do everything for you, without any clicks from you.

I hope you understand my bad english.

Thank you,

Alessio

I dont think thats the case.

Its pretty much clear and well done so far, just some things need to be completed.

For importing movies, its very easy, 3 clicks max if you want to import a single movie, same number of clicks for more movies!

Right click in the grid, import with default, select link, next phase->done. Or even better next phase->close, then go to batch import later to import all together.

Dont know why you are so confused, its much better as it is now.

Only thing i expect for now, is a final version of the imdb script (deep import everything) to start importing
