Posted - 22 Dec 2007 : 05:37:03 I have 2 questions:
1) in the photos directory for Jeremy Irons I find these files:
16/12/2007 11:14 p.m. 3,264 Jeremy-Irons.jpg 16/12/2007 11:27 p.m. 3,264 Jeremy-Irons_1.jpg 16/12/2007 02:50 p.m. 3,264 Jeremy-Irons_145051.jpg 16/12/2007 11:16 p.m. 3,264 Jeremy-Irons_231640.jpg 16/12/2007 11:02 p.m. 3,264 Jeremy-Irons_23211.jpg
But XMM only shows the first two in the ADD/Edit screen for Jeremy Irons. You can also see that all the pictures are the same, which means(?) that updating an actor just keeps adding the same picture over and over..
Please note that I have just executed a "Clear all pictures not linked to an actor" function. So I would expect to find only 2 pictures for Jeremy Irons.
Question 2) in the photos directory I can find many diferent file name formats.. could you explain them please.
27/01/2007 03:15 p.m. 3,467 Sean-Connery.jpg 25/11/2007 12:08 p.m. 3,467 Sean-Connery_12818.jpg

Thanks

Posted - 22 Dec 2007 : 20:43:19 I have been doing a masive update using IMDB(Actors) and I am finding the following..
1) In my database I have many actors with blank directlink or webpage, but with correct WedID. I have noticed that the IMDB(Actors) scrip first does a find? query to get a DirectLink. I think this is not necesary and can lead to errors. You could consider using the WebID to create the direct link and thus avoid the find? This is similar to the inteligent use of the Year for Movies. The WebID is normaly correct since it comes from the IMDB(Complete).
2) The IMDB(Actors) does not ask to select a particular actor when there could be several options. It just stores the find? query in the DirectLink and does not update the info. Again this could be minimized using the WebID Field.
3) There are some actor's entries that have the WebID field blank, but have a correct webpage field. To fix these I have been copying the WebID from the webpage, re-run IMDB(Actors) to get the full actor information.. (this is pain)
I hope this helps-- |

Posted - 22 Dec 2007 : 06:31:29 Here is more info... I think it is very good... I was looking into Clint Eastwood... Everytime I do an update actor info with IMBD(Actors) XMM ads a new photo and saves it n the PHOTO directory with name
05/01/2007 01:39 p.m. 3,983 5530-Clint-Eastwood.jpg 11/12/2007 10:27 a.m. 3,983 5530-Clint-Eastwood_1.jpg 21/12/2007 10:00 p.m. 3,983 5530-Clint-Eastwood_2.jpg
These photos are all visible with the cover manager, as I said before each time you run IMDB(Actors) it adds a new photo.
Here comes the good part: I just used IMDB(Complete) to update Where Eagles Dare, and the following file got addes to the PHOTO directory:
21/12/2007 10:02 p.m. 3,983 Clint-Eastwood_22229.jpg
As you can see the format is diferent AND THIS FILE does not show up in the Cover Manager!!
Futhermore IMDB(Complete) also updated the information for Richard Burton, created the file:
21/12/2007 10:02 p.m. 3,398 Richard-Burton_22223.jpg
which not linked to the Actor card for Burton... what is more the actor information for Burton is BLANK.
I updated Richard Burton with IMDB(Actors), and now all the information for burton is complete, and the latest picture is linked to the card and the cover manager. The picture has the name:
21/12/2007 10:18 p.m. 3,398 2801.jpg
!!!???
In conclusion IMDB(Complete) does download Actor information but somehow trows it away!
I hope this helps.
ps: 1) by the way if you right click on an actor and ask for all the films it directed the XMM gives you ALL your movies. (it say Applied Filter: none, all items shown.
ps: 2) under actors, if you double click in an actor and the exit the add/edit screen XMM reloads the list, goes to the top of the list loosing the position of the actor you were looking at... (this has been like this for a long time).
