Posted - 01 Jan 2009 : 09:02:32 Dear Alessio and Staff! I love your Extereme Movie Manager and plan on purchasing my copy on Friday January 2nd. In the meantime, I have just a few questions before my purchase. Thank you again for such a great creative programming masterpiece. The other day I was working on a demo copy and had ir search a test folder on 32 individual video files:, wmv, mkv, mpg and of course avi. Some of the covers could be generated from captured frames and some could not. Is there a restriction to which format I need to use for grabbing frames in the video? Next, for some reason at one point I had to restore a backyp copy of my test database...It recovered all the database demographics but NONE of the covers showed up...what did I do wrong. Can you help me in case this were to happen in the actual databse I will be using. I have over 260 DVDs each having anywhere from 7 to 12 full length internet movies...so before I start this cataloging project I need to know about the covers (backup & restore utility or feature) and where can I find documentation for your excellent program. Believe me I have researched several different applications and yours is by far the most powerful, flexible and awesome GUI. Please and thank you. I assume when we order the currency will change to US dollars. Rick (also send via email) |

Posted - 01 Jan 2009 : 11:01:31 Hi Rick!
First of all thank you very much! I am really happy when people like XMM so much.
At this time is not possible take frames from all video formats. For example not all mkv are imported, it's not a restriction about the shareware release.
About the backup function inside XMM, it save only the mdb database, not all the subfolders with covers (this because of save space on HD, because the main thing is the database).
To restore a backup copy just replace the MDB database file, you have to put it in the same folder where are the subfolders with covers, named yourdatabase_covers etc...
Thank you again, I hope you understand my bad english!
