Hello Alessio,

My database is getting to the point where loading images for thumbnails REALLY takes a lot of time. It is painful to wait for images to load every time I switch from the 'search' tab to another 'order' preset in the left tab, back to the main thumbnails panel or on to the shelves...

...Is there a way to have ALL images loaded in RAM at startup, and keep them there until I close XMM ?

Is there a trick I can use to speed up things ?

Thanks a lot,

Love your work, just trying to help here; I guess I am not the only one with this 'problem'...

Cheers

mmmh, could you try to implement the 'load' mode for images in thumbnails as well ?

...at the moment I don't use shelves very much; I have problems with the scroll column on the right, so I'm sticking to Thumbnails until it's resoolved...

But what about the original question; is it even possible to have the covers always in RAM, or is it just an idea I have because I am not a programmer and I got it all wrong ?

Thanks

Cheers

Yes, after the intially loading of the images, if you click on different Shelves it's more quick on loading.

Maybe it's only my experience with that...

I would not say 'shelves' mode is any faster; is it faster for you ?

Hi guys,

You are right, loading images it's a bit too "expensive" in time.

Can you please check the "Shelves" view? In this window I have completely rewrite the image procedure, it's different from Tumbnail view.

If you find the shelves view better I will reproduce the same thing in the Thumbnail view in main window.

how big is your database?

Sure Agism no problem; maybe as a feature that can be switched on and off ?

=)

Everybody's happy...

well personal i wouldn't like to have all images in ram.. but you are right about the load every time... also except the speed, when you refresh it is annoying to jump on the beginning..
Kerrikko i hope you won't mind that i replied here in your post instead of creating a new..

Thank you
Agis
