Posted - 20 Jul 2009 : 14:14:59 I am currently using Movie Collector but support for external database sources will cease shortly, leaving uses the option of only using the MC database for films. This is fine for mainstream titles but for rarer/ unusual movies this is rubbish. Everything has to be entered manually which is a pain
I have not seen Alessio's software before but on first impressions it is most impressive. I am only just trying the software since the weekend but I do have a few questions...
Is Alessio the only programmer?? Looking at the forum he is the only one who really replies to questions. Without sounding pessimistic but should something happen to him would anybody else continue with development and support?
On the moviecards is it possible to add screenshots?? I see for the covers you can include more pictures but they have to be selected manually.
In my Movie Collector database when I select a title the front and back covers are shown as well as the normal movie information such as cast, director and plot etc. Also screenshots are shown at the bottom of the card. This is particularly useful for adult titles when one is searching for a particular scene, very often the cast list on its own is not sufficient to identify the correct movie
Thanks in advance,

Sorry for my late reply!
Yes, at this time I am the only programmer of main core of XMM, plugins are made by other people.
So all this is your work? Most impressive, I often wonder what it must be like to be so clever!
Your experience with movie collectorz should answer your question: even if there are a lot of programmers that works to collectorz you want move to XMM, simply because they have change their "plans" and have decided to not support external sources anymore. And now for you Collectorz is useless.
Yes you are right, damn Dutch!
About the covers, from 7.x XMM support also back covers, must only be filled. At this time there are some script that support it, especially for adult movies, and more will come.
Thanks for the reply Alessio, I have paid my 10 euros so I will be giving your software a full trial. I am not a programmer myself but I will do my best to keep you busy with ideas and enhancements
Regards,
Arch Stanton
Thank you!
No thank you, I have paid my 10 euros and will give your software a full trial

Posted - 21 Jul 2009 : 00:42:52 I have used Movie Collector myself and I prefer EMM. Hopefully Alessio lives a long and prosperous life, but the biggest changes that are required are script changes. And these appear to be VERY open source so everyone can modify them and submit. In reality, the cost of this software is less than a good meal out so it is definitely worth the purchase price. I consider my time to be valuable and the first import from the web that I did for my data more than paid for the price of the software. Also this is the only place where YOU get to submit request directly to the programmer...any requested features are usually added and you can't beat that! |
