HI,
I just wondered what the syntax for files on the harddrive would be if you have the total episode number. I named my files as in:
serie - seasonnumber - totalepnumber - eptitle, eg:
"lost - 0102 - 002 - found.avi"

I played around with the tag configuration, but couldnt make it work. is there a way of making that work or do i have to rename all episodes to a format that xmm understands?

You also could use the plugin to rename the episodes. With that you can rename a complete season even if you don't know the episode titles.

For what its worth, I have found that the most widely used TV SHow naming convention for TV Show Episodes seems to be:

<SERIE>,S<SEASON>E<NUMBER>,<TITLE> which might look like this

Lost,S01E01,Episode Name.avi

Where the S represents the Season Number and E represents the Episode number within that season. It took me a while to convert all my TV shows over to the new format but by using mass file renaming tools Like NIYoW (Name It Your Way) it has turned out to be the best mechanism to organize TV Shows. I've also found that many of the Internet Databases that contain the detail information about the show can also use that naming convention. There are other naming conventions that XMM can use but once you decide to use one, its best to stick to it.

Any ways, that's my thought on the subject.

Ops, sorry.

You are right, at this time there is no way to import it correctly.

You need at least one character to separate the season from the episode.

Unfortunately not Alessio,

eg.: Will & Grace - 0810 - 184 - Von Trapped.avi
gives me in that Syntax: Season: 810 episode: 184.

its not a real biggy anyway, I just wondered if there might have been a placeholder for this kind of numbering. If not, it is not really that important.

Please try with:

<SERIE> - <SEASON> - <NUMBER> - <TITLE>

Let me know if works correctly.

Ale
