Hi all,

Just got back after a long absence and I'm trying to catch up, but I have a problem updating. XMM8 reports the latest version but then states that a firewall/AV blocks it. So I dlded the complete version via the web and installed it, but now it can't even authenticate, giving the same error message.

As far as I know, no software firewall is running on my pc; and v7.2.6 does connect to the server. I did switch off the hardware firewall and AVG, but nothing changed.

Any ideas?

Hello,

Everything seem to work correctly.

Please try to navigate to www.binaryworks.it/extrememoviemanager/ to see if you can reach the server.

Ale

I can reach the server from the Details pane and the pages display correctly in XMM. But Check for Update and Authenticate bring up an error message "Unable to connect to server".

I did not have this problem up to my previous update 8.0.6.9

Just in case someone needs it in the future, the problem was that I had set up a proxy server (inside xmm) and then forgot about it. Removing that proxy solved the problem.

Unfortunately, XMM throws you at a wrong direction by naming AVIRA and firewalls as the culprit.
