Hi all,

I've looked at this program and liked it best among all the others I have tried. I am at the brink of importing my files into it for good and need your help in the most effective naming convention for this program to be able to understand everything...

I have tried a few formats to see which works best and have problems with each, I can do regular expressions renaming, so anything you suggest is much appreciated.

Below is a few files that I put in a folder to test my naming schemes:
quote:
1984 (1956).avi
2012 (2009).mkv
3 10 to Yuma (2007).wmv
3 10 to Yuma (2007).en.srt
Fantasia (1940).mkv
Fantasia (2000).mkv
Fighter in the Wind CD1 (2004).avi
Fighter in the Wind CD1 (2004).tr.srt
Fighter in the Wind CD2 (2004).avi
Fighter in the Wind CD2 (2004).tr.srt

This is $FileName ($Year).($SubLanguageIfAny).$Extension
Even though I played with various options I can't seem to get it right... See the name/year is wrong in the following import for 1984 and it doesnt join the last movie

Title Year	File Name
(1956) 1984	1984 (1956).avi
(2009) 2012	2012 (2009).mkv
3 10 to Yuma () 2007	3 10 to Yuma (2007).wmv
Fantasia () 1940	Fantasia (1940).mkv
Fantasia () 2000	Fantasia (2000).mkv
Fighter in the Wind CD1 () 2004	Fighter in the Wind CD1 (2004).avi
Fighter in the Wind CD2 () 2004	Fighter in the Wind CD2 (2004).avi

What's your suggested naming that includes year information?
($year)?
- $year ?
[$year] ?

If your films are patterned like "Fantasia - 1940.mkv", XMM will place the year in the respective field.
If your films are in MKV, the subtitle streams will be read and placed in the respective field. SRTs are not read, you have to manually fill in the field. Durations are auto calculated.
Files that have CD1, CD2 etc will most likely be recognised and imported as one film (containing the "CD1" in the title), unless you cancel joinining them.

Other than that, no template actions are allowed for films, except auto-cleaning the filename (you can easily setup what strings to delete). For TV eps there are much more template actions, but sadly they are still not available for film importing. This feature is no1 in my wish list.
