When I start XMM

The engines buttons in the main toolbar hide themselves after a second

"Script Engine", "Device Scanner", "My Generic NMT Device"

Already tried to reset the layout?
Already tried to set the toolbar to minimized or vice versa?
Already tried to remove (rename) the ini-file for XMM?
Already tried to re-install the full version of XMM?
As I never had such a problem I only can guess what to do...

Oh Yes, I tried all that, I even uninstalled using Revo Pro to remove everything.
Reinstall XMM 8.5 on my
win 10 ver. 1511, (Brand new!)

and that might be the cause of the problem.
I had no problems for many years before this update.
So I still have the problem.

p.s. How can I insert pictures of screen shots into this forum??

Thanx in advance

Well, I still use Win 7.
But it's strange if only a few menus disappear.
If it's Win10 related - is there still existing a compatibility mode? Maybe that will do the job...

Inserting pictures directly in the forum is not possible. You have to upload it to any web server and then insert the link in here.

Iv'e been doing a lot, I mean A LOT, of testing, uninstalling, installing, just to find out, that some problems could be solved by adding a check mark in settings: Update Movies/People Automatically in Background.
Now engine button shows up (only) when adding movies.

...but all this fuzzing around has caused my photos to disappear in the Peoples section. I do have a whole database subdir called photos filled with photos, but how do I get them back into MM8?

Pooh, that could be hard. I think you don't have a backup of your database?
At first I would have a look at the database itself if there are still the entries for the actor photos.
Then make sure that the photo folder has the same basename as your database.
All other would be only fishing in the dark without having a look at the database.
