Hi!
I have used many times XMM long time ago, but now, when I have reinstalled, it doesn't run. The first time I run the program, it says "Database not recognized" on the example DB's. I have tried the runtime files, reinstalled many times and tried the "Access" solution, I have got the complete Access installed.
I want to know the drivers, DLL's and every file the XMM requires, I want to verify every file the program requires to run.
I'm very confused, when the Windows is on a clean install, the program runs without problem, but when I install every program and driver for daily use, I can't run it.
Greetings!

HI Nekromant,
It's really strange this! Probably others software has substituted database DLL.
If you have already installed the runtime files (the one that are in the download section), please try to install the MDAC 2.7 from microsoft, should solve the problem.

I use Windows XP Professional SP2, so I already have MDAC 2.8 installed.
Maybe the XMM library files conflicts with the .NET ones?
Also I use the Overnet program, that uses the Microsoft C++ Runtime Library.
I don't know why, but I only can use XMM the first day I install Windows, without any other program installed.

XMM should not conflict with .NET, in my PC I have .NET 2005 and Framework 2.0, and I have also VB6 and all is OK.
I will make some tests and let you know...

This might be or might not relate to your problem, but there is one time while I have my EMM running and my PC crashed, after I restart my Windows XP, my MS Access database file could not be opened anymore and I ended having to reenter like 25 movies manually again !
A better suggestion would be some sort of automatic backup every internal which can be specified by the user. MS Access file-based database is infamous for corruption. |

Hi Nekromant,
If you can ZIP your database and send it to me, I will take a look if all is OK.

I'm using the default databases that comes with XMM; I had tried to open them with Access and everything is ok.
When I run XMM, it says it's the first time I run it, the default databases appears as "Not Recognized DB" and on the bottom, the default database appears as "Pippo-asdhdkkf"...

It's strange that also with runtime files doesn't work (the one that you can download in the download section of the website).
I am trying to reproduce in my others PCs but without success

I have tried several times to run XMM 4.8 but without success, take a look to the following screenshots, I don't know what else to try:
Look the "Not recognized database" and also the Default Database, a strange word...
When I close the program, it freezes on the splash screen and I must kill it...
With M$ Access I can open the databases included with XMM, so it's not a problem of corrupted databases...

Hi,
Please try to open the movie database with Access and let me know if you receive errors.
Thank you!

I have opened the default DB without problems with Access, it's not a problem of the DB it seems...
I don't know what else I can try, I have no new ideas, I have 2 PC's with Windows XP SP2 and XMM doesn't run so I can discard the 64 bits CPU because there are 1 AMD 64 and 1 AMD Athlon XP...

Hi,
If you want, please install the MDAC component. I suppose that some of MDAC files are corrupt/missing.
You can found it here:
http://www.zuggsoft.com/files/mdac28.exe
Please let me know.
Alessio
PS: Anyone else has this problem? |

You database destroyed? This means that XMM was working before? I was thinking that XMM was never work. This is a good news, because means that is a problem of some DLL corrupted.
Let me know,

MDAC 2.8 RTM is incompatible with my version of Windows (media center edition)...
what other program I could use to open the database? I do not have Acces :(
When I start extreme movie manager I get the warning sign that the database is not valid it might be a database of another sotware. and that it is not possible to use or convert it |

Hi,
I have a question: do you remeber if XMM stop work after you install others softwares?
Before this, XMM was working correctly?
If you can, ZIP your database and send it to me, I will take a look.
