In v7, I could import a movie without importing the people in the database. Then I would import manually the actors I wanted.
Now it seems that all actors are automatically added to the database (with empty data, but still added). If I modify the import actors option (imdb script), then they are not added, but they're not added in the list of actors/roles in the movie either.
I'd like to have the full cast of the movie, but without adding people to the database.
Am I missing something there ? It was possible in v7.
And also I thought I could easily import an actor from the movie (with its data) which doesn't seem to be possible anymore. |

As in Release 8 all actors, directorers, writers, etc. are treated as "people" there is a new internal table for. That's the reason why everyone is now automatically added to the database. You were able to import single actors in V7? I can't remember this functionality. Only thing I know of is to re-import all actors of a special movie. |

Yeah I could. I had only 800 people in my db, which were the one I wanted. Now I only added a few movies and boum, I guess it added all the actors of all the movies and I got 22 000 people, even if empty. It makes it a lot more difficult to select the ones I want to import all the data for. Also on the movie's starring tab, you could right click an actor and immediately see if it were already in the db or import it. Now I can't make the difference without having to double click on all, open the actor window then decide to import it. It's much longer and totally impractical if you need to do it for tens at a time. |
