Hi there,

I'm still having problems with this. The earlier topic pointed out that XMM x64 version seems to solve the problem, but I can't find x64 version of XMM anywhere.

Has anyone managed to get around this problem?

Many thanks,

Victor

Hello Guys,

I have upload just now a new release.

I have made some tests to try to figure out the 64 bit drivers problem.

Now the EXE should run correctly in both systems.

If you have a 32 bit windows, nothing will change.

If you have a 64 bit version probably you need to install the database drivers.

If XMM will not be able will automatically open the website to download the Drivers.

Well, just a stupid question: where can I see which version is now installed?
Except of the message for the additional 64-bit drivers - that by the way always pops up if they are already installed or not - I can see no differences between the old 32-bit and the new version. Only difference is saw was that the first time XMM needed a lot of time to start. And now it needs a few seconds longer, too. Even all newly opened windows like the Edit window is slowed down a little.
I'm using Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

In order to achieve what is possible, you have to try the impossible over and over again.

I will add this information in the about window, actually you cannot see anywhere the difference.

Thank you!

a simple way to see whether you are running a x32 or x64 program:
while XMM running you can see in windows task manager (all x32 programs have a "*32" appended to the 'ImageName', all x64 running programs don't)

I think Ale should add behind the window title a "(x64)". And in the installer you should be able to see the installed version, too. Maybe the user should be able to decide if he still wants to use the 32 bit version for some reason.

In the Forum Italiano XMM8:

quote:

Posted - November 5, 2014: 09:04:42

I have a Win 8.1 64-bit, Office 2007 Home and Student [distributed 32-bit only] Access + 32 bits.
XMM was also installed 32-bit but kept giving me errors "Out of resources" so I decided to start all over again and install the 64-bit version after removing completely the 32-bit version and also deleted the old DB with my films
problems:
1) to install the 64-bit Access driver I had to uninstall Office, not just Access, but ALL of the Office package and if I try to reinstall it (only Office) XMM64 requires me again to install the 64-bit drivers.
2) with XMM64 I can import the movies, but not to update the codecs. The program reports an error and closes. If I enable the reading of codecs simultaneously with that of the film, however, the program freezes and I have to close it by [Task Manager]
claim
It would be possible to obtain a 32-bit XMM able to operate with a 64-bit OS, so you can also install contextually Office (and Access) 32-bit?

Hello,

Unfortunately, the issue of the 64-bit microsoft home is a bit of a crap ... the fact that there can be ONLY driver 32 or 64 says it all about how they handled it.

The 64-bit XMM so it is only for those users who have both a 64-bit OS as well as 64-bit Office.

Apart from that, the XMM 32-bit works fine on 32-bit, the only problem is that using the script importing the details of the actors also complete the database becomes inexorably huge after a while.

As for the codecs, try using the solution as soon as possible.

Hello and thank you!

Alessio

I use Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit). I use a variety of 32-bit & 64-bit programs. Does this mean if I install 64-bit drivers required for the new 64-bit version of XMM that 32-bit programs will no longer work? Or is this just a limitation of Windows Home Edition (7/8?)

I have Win7 64-bit and Office 2003 32 bit installed.
After trying to install the 64-bit driver for Access I got no result if the installation was successful or not. So I think that the driver wasn't really integrated. But XMM started without any errors and my old Access works well, too.
Only affect I have recognized so far is that XMM works a little slower than before.

Apparently I'm still running the 32 bit version. How do you install the 64 version?

PS: I do have office 2013 64 bit installed and I have installed the 64 bit drivers successfully? I'm confused!

The 64 bit version of XMM cannot be installed without the 64 bit MS Access redistribution SP2 pack.

This MS pack cannot be installed by people that have a 32 bit MS Office with Access, like most of us that actually have it.

In short: as far as I know I have to live with these irritating memory exceptions.

Alessio, I hope you are reading this. How to get rid of the exceptions if you cannot install x64 ?

Well, as said before:
System: Win7 64-bit with MS Office 2003 32-bit
Tried to install the 64-bit drivers that ends without any comment or error message
Installed XMM 64-bit succesfully

Only problem is that opening child windows like the edit window need very long to open on the first attempt

There exists a hack for installing both driver versions:

I just have copied the link but I don't have tested this how-to !!!

If you have 32-Bit MS Office with Access and deleted Access. Can you load the 64-Bit MS Access redistribution SP2 pack without any version of Access and get XMM 64-Bit to work? I normally use Filemaker instead.

Hi Alsystems,

I have 64bit Microsoft Office installed without MS Access.
I installed the MS Access redistribution pack and XMM x64 runs without problem.

It only runs a bit slower than the 32bit version in some cases.

Greetings,

This MS pack cannot be installed by people that have a 32 bit MS Office with Access, like most of us that actually have it.

If you have 32-Bit MS Office with Access and deleted Access. Can you load the 64-Bit MS Access redistribution SP2 pack without any version of Access and get XMM 64-Bit to work? I normally use Filemaker instead.

I have tried this too but it does not work. You really have to uninstall MS Office completely.

Installed XMM 64-bit succesfully

Only problem is that opening child windows like the edit window need very long to open on the first attempt

There exists a hack for installing both driver versions:

ATTENTION:
I just have copied the link but I don't have tested this how-to !!!

Having MS Office 2007 means you won't be able to install the 64 bit drivers. The XMM 64 bit installation which is incomplete without these drivers also results in not being able to start XMM at all. Not even slowly. All of a sudden it wants me to type a password before I can access the database, which has not been password protected by me when I was using it under 32 bit.

Eventually I had to complete uninstall XMM and MS Office, very much to my disliking, and install the 64 bit drivers first before installing XMM 64 bit. This solved my problem for now, but i can't say I am a 'happy customer'.

XMM 64-Bit requires the 64-Bit Access Drivers which conflict with the 32-Bit drivers of MS Office.

It appears to get XMM 64-Bit to run and still have the standard office programs you can either:

1) Upgrade to a 64-Bit version of MS Office

2) Load another office type program such as the 'Word Perfect' Suite or 'Open Office'

3) Try to get both 32-Bit & 64-Bit drivers loaded using:
