Can't get new download from website to work. Where can I get a different version? Like 8.

What does not work? The download or the release itself?
For me the update out of XMM itself has made no problems.

Downloaded EMM from website, installed, open and soon as I click on movie I get a message it stopped working and closes.

Well, and what is the message? From XMM or from Windows?
With getting info bit by bit it is difficult to help...

or for the 64-bit release: http://www.binaryworks.it/download.asp?file=extrememm9.0.1.0_64bit.exe

Go to the options and uncheck the "automatic import". Additionally uncheck the "automtic start of the device scanner".
But if you really wanna roll back to 8 - what I really don't advice - then change the release number in the download links.

Tabs General, MagicScript and DeviceScanner...

Just replace the release number "9.0.1.0" with one of the release 8. I don't know what the last one was...
But I really think that you should use XMM9.
