Hello,
I have got a problem with covers. I use version 5.3.8.0. But I have tried with other versions too.
If I try to set manually a cover or via script, I get no cover. I have tried with my Database (1200 films) and with a new database too.
I have tried to reinstall the software but I get the same error. So now, I can't set new covers to my films.
I have the covers of the films that I set some months ago. But I can not set any new cover.
Whenever I import a cover, the cover is not written in the covers directory. But I have seen that the file buffercover.jpg in TempDir stores the last cover imported. But is overwritten when I import another cover.

Help!

Hi,

Please open the configuration window and take a look at "Cover Mask", it's empty?

If not, please open the cover's folder of your database and take a look if new cover's files are there.

Let me know,

Alessio

Cover Mask is not empty: %MovieID%-%Title%.
In the covers directory there are only covers created some months ago, before I had the problem.
The new covers are not created anywhere in my PC.

Hi,

Please make this test for me: create a new database, add a movie and try to import or set manually a cover. Let me know if works.

Thank you,

Alessio

Another bug with covers
Have started with a new database
Adding movies and when i added the last movie (Kvinnen i Mitt Liv) it shows up the same pictures as the movie Nikita.
Movie-ID in database is 18 and 61
When i look at the Nikita movie i have 2 pictures there.
When i look at the movie Kvinnen i Mitt Liv i have the same pictures there (the movies are both original DVD's)

If i manually import the pictures from Kvinnen i Mitt Liv i also get those pictures into the Nikita movie

This is a odd bug also very annoying

I experimented with this this morning and here's a workaround.

1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\eXtreme Movie Manager\Databases\example_cover
2. Find the film you want to create a cover for and rename the .jpg file. For example, for the film called "Cellular", the IMDB script will download six image files called respectively, "14-Cellular.jpg", "14-Cellular_1.jpg", "14-Cellular_2.jpg", "14-Cellular_3.jpg", "14-Cellular_4.jpg" and "14-Cellular_5.jpg". So if you call your own cover "14-Cellular_6.jpg" and move it to that folder, XMM will be able to display it. You can delete all the other images if you don't want to keep them.

The initial number which prefixes the image cover title will vary per user because it's the same as the "MovieID" and the latter merely represents the order you entered the data in.

Hope this helps.

hi.
i have this bug sice the first 5.x versions.
i guess it's in the way xmm link the movie with the picture.
the bug: movie-a and movie-b. movie-a was before than movie-b. import cover for movie-b, then the cover is shown in both movies, but is saved with movie-b's name. here go my tests:
-delete cover with cover manager for movie-b: is deleted for both.
-delete directly the movie-b.jpg: is deleted for both.
-delete cover, then manually add the file to cover folder: it's shown for both. ***this only happens if the file already was there***
-add cover for movie-a: is shown only for movie-a.

i just get a workaround: in files tab for movie-b, "cover" showns movie-a.jpg, so everytime you delete and reimport cover is saved with movie-a name, 2 movies pointing to 1 cover. solution: manually change to ###-movie-b.jpg. tested.
but the cause of this is unknown to me, because when first import the cover the filename was right: ###-movie-b.jpg.
bye.

hi.
xmm 5.3.9.0
the double-cover bug:
-when you start xmm, the first movie of the list is selected (movie1).
-BUG: when you import a new movie (movie5) and import a new cover, this is saved with the name of *movie2*, the next movie on the selected one. so if you've been reading the movie44's plot, when you import a new movie, the cover is saved 45-movie45.jpg.
---note: this selected+1 behaviour only happens in the first movies, when you select a movie in the middle of the list the file is saved with the name of the selected movie.
-BUG&BUG: when you import the cover, and exit without save, the movie is added to the list (it shouldn't add a movie without save it), the cover is not saved, but a new file appear with the name of the selected file, and is added to its previous covers.

-WORKAROUND: if you import the movie without covers, then save&exit, wait to refresh and the new record is shown and selected, and THEN import the cover, the file is writen with the right name.

i hope this help to terminate the problem, alessio.
bye.

i guess they are all saved with one name.
check the folder or xmm, look for a movie with an abnormal number of covers.

You can use that file called "buffercover.jpg" provided you rename it to match the film you want to associate it with.
So after you import the data, go to the C:\Program Files\eXtreme Movie Manager\TempDir and right click the "buffercover.jpg" file and choose "Copy" from the menu. Then go to the C:\Program Files\eXtreme Movie Manager\Databases\example_cover, right click again and choose "Paste" from the menu.

Next, click the file once to highlight it and then hit the F2 key (you can also right click it and choose "Rename" from the menu). Then by using the arrow keys, go to the first letter ("b") of the title, then hit the Delete key to delete the name "buffercover" (leaving the .jpg extension intact). Then type the name of the film preceded by the MovieID and click anywhere outside the file to rename it to that movie title.

Keep in mind though that each time you download a single file, the "buffercover.jpg" file will be overwritten. I think it works like the Windows Clipboard in that respect. So if you hit PrintScrn for example, Windows copies whatever you're looking at to the clipboard. If you subsequently go to another image and hit PrintScrn again, the first image will be overwritten by the new one.

Help!!!
Alessio, don't forget my problem!!!!!
I want to be able to add lots of new movies with their covers.
If you don't have enough time, please send me the source code and I will send you back the problem fixed. I am an experienced programmer, and I can debug the problem in .NET.
With my problem, I can't use Extreme Movie Manager for adding new films, because the cover is very important for me.
Help!!!!!

More information:
I have seen that when I try to add the cover (with an script or manually), in the bottom of the windows it appears a red admiration and number 53 (where usually appears the total number of movies). It seems to be the error code 53.

Ooooohhhhh!!!!!! I got it!!!!!
Finally I fixed the problem. Perhaps the path for the files was too long. Because I uninstall the software and install it in the directory "c:\E", and now it works. Previously I did the same but installing in "C:\Archivos de programa\eXtreme Movie Manager 5" and similars, but didn't fixed the problem.
But now, everything is fixed.
I am happy!!!!!!
