hey there,

i downloaded a trial version of XMM and using it with polish interface. everything seems to be working just fine so far however my only complain is that the special letters in the menu of the program (polish interface) is not displaying the POLISH letters correcly. Also when it's feeding the information from FILMWEB.PL which is in polish it's enterd into the right fields and all but still polish signs are not visible. they're there but unreadable. I can input polish special letters just fine in other programs and when i save and reopen they're displayed OK. My questions is whether this problem is on my end or it's the program itself. Do i need to install special fonts of any kind? Note that other programs display the letters just fine. Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Did you remember to restart XMM after changing the language in Tools --> Options? If you did and it still doesn't work properly, you could edit the polish.ini file directly. That's where XMM is reading the data from.

Make sure the system can see file extensions before you begin by going to My Computer --> Tools --> Folder Options --> View. Checkmark the option: "Show hidden files and folders" and remove the checkmark from "Hide file extensions for known file types". Click Apply/OK to save and exit.

Before you begin with editing though, make sure the XMM program is not running.

Next, do a search for the "polish.ini" file using the Windows Search tool on your Start menu. Right click the file and choose "Copy" from the menu. Then go to the "My Documents" folder and click "Paste". You can use that backup file to replace the original in case you make a mistake when editing.

Next, find the original file again which is located in C:\Program Files\eXtreme Movie Manager\Languages folder. Right click it and choose "Open" from the menu. The file will open in Notepad by default. You can now edit the file replacing the letters which aren't displaying correctly.

If your editing causes a problem with the XMM program, go to the "My Documents" folder (or wherever you saved the backup copy of the "polish.ini" file to) and then drag and drop it into the C:\Program Files\eXtreme Movie Manager\Languages folder choosing to replace the edited version when you see the Windows warning message that the file already exists.

Finally, launch the XMM program again and check to make sure everything is displaying correctly.

Could you take a screenshot of the "weird format" display and then add include it in your next post? It might help a little if we knew exactly what you were talking about. Save the screenshot in either JPG or PNG format and upload it to http://imageshack.us
After it's been uploaded, copy the last URL (at the bottom of the six links) and use that one in your post. The bottom one of the six called "Direct link to image" doesn't include all the ads that will be displayed using the other links.

the original data fields like Title, Genre, Cast etc change if i switch language to polish but with the same result: not showing polish letters properly, which can be fixed as sugested earlier with manually editing polish.ini file and replacing the "weird format" with the right PL letters. however i would like to avoid doing the same thing for every movies source.
