I've just finished importing 30 new movies one by one and have to say, it was a disaster. Randomly it crahed about 20-25 times. Sometimes it happens when I try to import codec information from the movie file. Sometimes when I try to download info using imdb.com script. Sometimes it happens right after downloading the data. I've been using XMM for a long time and I was always very enthusiastic about this application but today I was crushed.
Don't really knows what's going on with the XMM. Sometimes I can see that errors are due to some combo boxes (it's in the message). Sometiomes I just have the code: 1.
Please if someone had such problems and solved give me a tip how to get rid of those problems.
Some technical issues: I've installed the first 5.0 version and since then I update each new version comes. I've installed .NET Framework 2.0 since I'm using Visual Developper by myself. |

Agree with all what you say. Same situation. As much as I like EMM in past (before 5.. version) - as much I hate it now. More unstable soft I never see. unfortunately I add to batabase more that 2000 movies so I must plagued with it now. What is it with IMDB script? from 10 movies it work only with 1-2 in another cases ask me check my internet connection and firewall. it's a normal simustion? another script (kinopoisk) work correctly. in another soft info from IMDB for these movies also downloading correctly. Hope autor can make something. |

I must admit I don't have SP2 installed on my sys. If it's true what you're saying then it's not good cause I don't want to install it since I hate all those additional functionalities regarding security. I took care of it by myself and don't need MS solutions. Let Alesio speak if this is the main case, I'll have to install SP2 and then try. |

Alessio - hi. as for me - very long time of work. I don't know what internet connect you have and what hardware you use but on my internet speed and my computer working with your software looks like torture. And I have not a bad device. all another programs - even monsters like Adobe photoshop of microsoft office - working on it much more quickly. Best times of your software was in the end of line 4. This was quick and stable soft without all these not nesessery beauties which only make it much more big and slowly. you must agree - update of program with weight of 2mb - it's look like joke. office have 6 very big components and haven't so hard updates. second one - scripts. I am not a profy - i can't and not want make own scripts. and for example script on ant movie catalog take all neseccery information from imdb in 5 second and work correctly years long - but your take me an errors in 2 or 3 movies from 10 and grab information from 1 movies more that 2 minutes. of course 10 bucks it's a not big price for this good soft - but use must understand that I add to you software all my movies - and now I can't change it for example to ant. but I want it because your 5 version of soft - it's simply another software that 4 - but I want 4 and you not support it. so for me your software - it's simply trap for now:( |

Well, I've observed tha application during last few days and noticed some things. I always add movie like this: 1. add new movie 2. read from file 3. identify codec (or something like that - using polish language and don't remember it's english translation in XMM) 4. import info from internet (IMDB script) 5. save :)
After starting XMM and adding the first movie everything looks great. Problem comes with the second movie when I try to read files for codec info. Then it either crashes or gets file path but without codec recognition. It leeds to the crush when I try to download info then. So it looks like I have to restart XMM each time I want to add new movie.
I also have problem with reading file paths sometimes, especially when I try to read more than 6 files at the same time.
Another thing very annoying: when I put the moues over the title a small window goes out. It's OK normally, but I cannot understand why it happens when I have a detail window opened. I mean main window is then covered by this detail one, but even then the small one appears. In my opinion it should be related only to the main window, and it seems like it depends only on mouse position, not the active window (layer).
There are some other things but let's get with these I described. |

Hi Guys,
I hope tomorrow to release the 5.4.1.0. I have fix many minor bugs.
@OLE:
XMM takes much time in importing from IMDB because it's import really much details, other software doesn't download all pictures, all crew, information about DVD, every actor information and so on, this is why XMM need more time to download everything. If you disable (from the script options) all these features, you will see that IMDB will be more fast.
@Kipcior:
To disable the small window just go in tools menu -> Advanced popup.
Thank you,
Alessio

yep. I test them both. and know what... I just add to name of film simbol "_" and sometimes script working. so i type not "Mne ne bolno" but "Mne_ne_bolno_" why? it's not good for me every time remember about it... and for exaple movie "Peregon" not working but if I type "Peregon_" - it's work. but not all times.. I use a little time for tests.. but you must agree it's not a normal situation |

Hi,
Yes, thi is not normal.
A workaround, just for now, is to manually edit the script, and add this:
#REPLACESPACES#=_
You can add this line before the #WEBQUERY#
Please let me know if works.

Ole, have you got Skype running in the background? There's a similar error reported on this site which appeared to be Skype related: http://www.codeattest.com/blogs/martin/2006/06/server-committed-protocol-violation.html
You can download a freebie utility called "What's Running?" from http://www.whatsrunning.net to try and identify which process may be hogging the port.

Hi Ole
Do you use a proxy to connect to internet? If yes, try to setup in the configuration window.
Let me know!

No, I don't use proxy and I haven't firewall. I even turn off Windows default firewall. |
