Hi Alessio,

I want to direct your attention on two features for DVD collectors that are still missing in xMM. Here xMM falls a little bit behind it's comeptitors at the moment: Box Set Support and Multi-Disc support

Box Set support should be added to model the fact that some movies come "boxed" together in a larger container/box. So in database terms the Box Set should be (and already is) a level above the movie items.
Multi-disc support could model the fact that some movie DVDs and TV Series DVDs come with multiple discs in their box, where in general the first disc contains the main movie and some extras and the 2nd disc contains more extra features. For seasons of TV series, the discs each contains some episodes.

About the Box Set support:
I see Box Sets as "containers" that contain multiple movie items, a kind of grouping level ABOVE the movie level.Example: Star Wars boxes, Stanley Kubrick collection, etc...Those boxes contain multiple MOVIES and I think these movies should be separate movie items in the database. Then these can be grouped bya Box Set field. At the moment this organisation can be done by "misuse" an existing data field like Edition or a custom field (BTW: when I name a custom field this new name should also appear in the grid and the tree). But that's not enough. Example: "Back To The Future" belong to a box set, but I still cannot specify any details about the box itself. The box has a pretty cool cover, but I can't have that image in my collection, except within each of the films in the box set. I would like to be able to have specifications on the box set, including images and booklets. Where should I put that box set cover image? On movie 1, movie 2 or movie 3? Or all of them? There should be an additional tab/edit window for Box Set.On this new Box Set tab you should at least be able to fill in the following Box Set details: Title,Distributor, Release Date, Barcode, Packaging, Nr of Discs, Standard/Extra Features, Purchase Price,Purchase Date, Value,Cover, Notes

About The Multi-discs support:...
Many movie releases contain 2 disc, where one disc is the feature film and the other contains the extras. How do I make that distinction in xMM? You can't even put in the media label for more than one disc per movie into the database. There should at least be an Episodeish feature, where any content in the database entry could be assigned to a disc (an Episode can be assigned to a specific disc, and I want this also for special features and extras). Example: A box set consists of 4 discs, three with movies and one with special features (there are several like this, one example is the Indiana Jones box). The above described box set feature cover this. Yes, each of the movie-discs is covered by the box set field, but how about that extra disc? Where do I list the special features that it contains? On movie 1, movie 2 or movie 3? Or all of them? The point is that I like to be able to have as many and precise details as possible in my collection.

Excellent suggestion Mawu, a much needed extra feature. I just wanted to add one itsy-bitsy item, some Boxed sets such as Highlander (TV Series) and Alien Quadrilogy (Alien/ Aliens /Alien 3 /Alien Resurrection) can contain up to 9 DVDs per box. And the ever-present "The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus 16-Ton Megaset DVD" containing 16 dvds.

Just wanted to make sure Mult-Disc support didn't stop with say 3 to 5 discs per set ;)

Just thought about certain sets, such as TV series Andromeda. They recorded on Both sides of the disc. Would this be counted as 1 2-sided DVD or as 2 DVDs??????
