I think it would be a good idea (sorry if its already been suggested) to have an area where other movies in you database can be linked with spinoffs, sequels and prequels or other related movies. I am currently doing this via the boxsets method, which is kind of clunky but to have one area where you could put in a movie/tv show ID, that would provide a link to subsequent movies within the database (and/or could possibly include the movie connections listings from IMDB via scripts until you have added in the correct movie ID).
Sometimes movies and shows should be linked, some boxsets grow out of proportion, and I currently have over 200 because of the sequel/prequel/spin-off issue

possible feilds (that I have used IMDB for are:
Follows (Sequel of)
Followed BY (Prequel of - well sort of)
Version of (reboots, unrelated remake version)
Remake of (direct remake of)
Remake (direct reamkes)
Spin off of (original source material relating to characters/ storyline)
Spin off (following material in line with this material)
Edited into (documentaries/making ofs)
Edited from (documnetaries source materials)
Just some ideas, so for instance:
sorry to use this example again, but it covers alot of ground:
Friday the 13th was:
Followed by
Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
Friday the 13th Part III (1982)
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)
Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985)

obviously the ones I have added to the database will have ID's, however these are pretty much useless without knowing the names as, so if the titles acan also be shown that'd be great |

But let's keep this field only occupied with the movies that are in the database only... so there wouldn't be unnecessary crowd...
Also could we make this so, the existing database can be updated to link all the related movies.
this is such a needed great idea by the way. |
