Hello
I am new to this program. I thought it looked great, so I paid for it straight away. However, the first simple thing I have tried to do does not work. This is very frustrating. I have only seen small references to it in past posts so I do not know if it is something that XMM can do. From what I can see there is very little documentation for the program to help me.

I just want to import BD and DVD folder structures in order to export to XML for MediaPortal. Here is my experience so far:

add ripped BD:
correctly searches through sub folders but the filename is stored as "FolderPath\FilmName\BDMV\STREAM"
Note - the \BDMV\STREAM at the end is not something I have seen with other media databases. Is it supposed to store this? I would have expected the result to be just "FolderPath\FilmName" or "FolderPath\FilmName\BDMV\index.bdmv" (probably the latter)

add ripped DVD:
There does not seem to be any searching of sub folders. Is this something I have missed? Should I be doing it another way?

Apologies if I have missed something obvious but this seems like an easy thing to do and I figured XMM would do it easily, given the description on the main web page.

Thanks
Ben

Just go to the Start in the menu on top, select Add Movies (click on the word itself to open the submenus) and chose Add Ripped DVD on HD. I just have tested it with the latest version 7.1.4.3 and it worked perfectly well.
The structure is FolderPath\Filmname. And then there is the complete DVD structure with audiots and videots.

Hello
Thanks for the response. If I select one folder (your folder 'Filmname' above) then it works fine. But if I select a parent folder (with many films in it) it doesn't search within sub folders. Obviously I am not keen on adding each DVD manually!
Also, the BD folder structure is not supported. Is this right?
Thanks

Well, I tested it with 3 DVDs:
D:\DVDs\Movie01\VideoTS
D:\DVDs\Movie02\VideoTS
D:\DVDs\Movie03\VideoTS
I have selected for the process D:\DVDs - and it worked ok.
On Bluerays it should work, too. But i don't have any to test it.

Thanks for helping.
I see. So it seems to only looks one level down for Video_TS? Try putting your DVDs folder inside another one and selecting that instead.

On blurays, the sub-folder search works fine when i select the top level folder, but the filename imported is the STREAM folder rather than the inddex.bdmv file.

The two don't seem to be consistent. The DVD import takes the correct IFO filename, but won't search within more folders, and the BD import searches in folders but takes the wrong filename...

I will test it tomorrow before going to work... but what's the structure on your hd? Do you have another folder level between movie and videots?
To BD: I don't have any bluerays nor a blueray drive, so I can't say anything to that.

Hi
Using your example above I have:
D:\DVDs\Movie01\VideoTS
D:\DVDs\Movie02\VideoTS
D:\DVDs\MovieSeries\Movie03\VideoTS
D:\DVDs\MovieSeries\Movie04\VideoTS
D:\DVDs\MovieSeries\Movie05\VideoTS

But, to be clear, the logic in the BD search seems to handle this structure and the DVD logic doesn't, so they are not consistent.

The issue with BDs is that the imported filename is not correct.
eg with the BD structure
D:\DVDs\MovieSeries\Movie06\BDMV
D:\DVDs\MovieSeries\Movie06\CERTIFICATE

I can search in the folder called 'D:\DVDs' and the movie is found. But, the filename which is imported is
D:\DVDs\MovieSeries\Movie06\BDMV\STREAM (ie a folder, which is not playable)
and I think it should be
D:\DVDs\MovieSeries\Movie06\BDMV\index.bdmv
(index.bdmv is like video_ts.ifo for BDs)

I only just bought this program and I would like to be able to use it because it looks good! But both of these issues are important for me as all of my films are in that structure. If it is likely to be too much trouble to implement/low priority I will move to another program I think. That is not meant to be critical - it's just how it is for me, given the way my films are stored. I don't know how involved you are so maybe that comment should be directed somewhere else.

thanks for looking at this though.
Ben

Tried to import by using the function Add ripped Blueray from disk? It's another function. Seems as if you want to import both media with the same function...

Then it's a job for Alessio. I know that he has changed something on that in one of the last releases...

Alessio
Have you had time to look at this? It doesn't seem like a huge thing to change, and would allow me to get started using the program.
Otherwise, please can you look at giving me a refund? I'm not trying to be difficult, but the only two things I have tried to do so far haven't worked!
Thanks
