So I tried the demo and it was fantastic, just bought the full version and I wish I hadn't as it is crashing like crazy.

Basically when I import the movies, it has no problems to build the initial database. But as soon as I do anything it will crash, i have tried restarts etc..

Demo was perfect and on a selection of 50 movies i had no problem.

Running win 7 x64. Only trying to import 115 movies.

Also noticed it didnt import 5 movies.. perhaps it should prompt that X amount of know file extensions were not imported...

As far as I know is the demo version identical to the full one except the limitation - you only have to input the activation code. Do you have used the same (and correct) folder for both versions? Please try to install the latest full version again from the download section: http://www.binaryworks.it/extrememoviemanager/download.aspx

With importing you mean scanning your harddisk? In the config you can add more file extensions if some are missing but what filetypes XMM does not import?

In order to achieve what is possible, you have to try the impossible over and over again.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled

I have changed paths

My collection at the moment has 109 movies scanned from HDD, i have just finished doing the imports which eventually worked (crashed many times tyring this step).

Now it just crashes during regular use on the UI.. say clicking on movies and looking at details.

Running an i7 with 6gb ram and plenty of hdd, but it came up with Out of Memory error... I tried to get a print screen but no joy.

It seems though just before it crashes the gfx/menus start to be replaced by withe boxes with red outline and x in middle. I will do some more mucking about and try and get some screens. Very very unstable, the demo was fine - perhaps i didnt play enough with the demo but it did the 2 things I wanted - ie imported and IMDB scraps and was a nice UI..

:( Things just going wrong now tho.. I'll try and get some debug info

EDIT:
http://ocau.com/pix/duk62

Ok, to easily recreate the crash in UI, all i do is scroll and click on movies that i have in my DB currently that have had IMDB info imported. Each time i click on one it almost adds 100mb to mem usage, and and after i click 10 or so it crashes .. out of memory... still have plenty left - so mem leak? Or the program is going past allocated mem? not sure been awhile since i did any programming :)

Thanks for the prompt reply BTW

EDIT2: I can't get screen grab yet (it comes up as garbage), but Error is Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. .... ... Screen-compatible bitmap cannot be created. The screen bitmap format cannot be determined.

I would say: backup your database (complete folder) and uninstall XMM. Download the latest version and install it in the given directory. Missing/wrong admin rights under W7 could cause problems if it's not installed in the correct folder.
Under XP I didn't have any crash 'til now.

Hello,

Thats really strange, I have't see this error before.

Do you have only this problem in the UI?

Please reinstall the full version again, I have upload a new one just few minutes ago (The ID Number is the same, so please download again from website)

Ale

I should report that after uninstalling, deleting the temp files and retsarting, reinstalling that instability has gone away. I was infact using a CNET version when i first downloaded (its how i learnt of your program), and while the demo was fine the final version had these issues.. now whether that is because some scripts may not have been compatible? Or someother issue not sure... i have not been able to get it to do this since going to the latest build and now the only time i have it crash is when i do silly things like print the grid to pdf while importing - so perhaps there should be a block from preventing people like me doing silly things like exporting tables that are in use by a script :)

So far so good, i certainly hope the sales will make it worth it!

Good to hear that now all works fine!
And doing silly things - that's normally my job *lol*
As I do a little programming by myself I know that it's nearly impossible to eliminate all SUEs (Silly or Stupid User Errors ).

In order to achieve what is possible, you have to try the impossible over and over again.
