I’ve read a couple of posts from people asking how to change the labels on the cover pictures to match their database numbers and responses that the program now can’t do that.

There is a work around that does work but it takes a couple of steps but first let me say this is cover files only, I have not done this with fan art etc.

1. Review your database to ensure the titles are exactly the way you want them. Sometimes the movie title changes to another language or the title on the dvd box does not match what is on IMDB as the movie has had a couple of titles.

2. Once you’re happy with all the changes, go to Advance Tools, Collection Maintenance. For this we’ll use MovieID Renumbering. Let the program proceed and renumber.

3. Once this has completed and shouldn’t take too long, highlight all the movies in your database and right mouse click to Edit Multiple. This will open a new window. Click the files tab and look for the label Cover. Here you click on the box and place a space then click save and exit and the program will update all the records to have a space in this field. Depending on the size of your database and the number of movies it shouldn’t take too long.

4. Go out to the directory where the program is installed look for the folder Databases, double click on that folder and look for your database name like DVD. You should see a folder DVD_Cover. Open this folder and delete all the pictures stored there.

5. You can now go back to the program and update all your movies to re-download. This will bring all the movie covers back and match the new numbering.

A few things you should consider are

1. Adding new movies later will again change your numbering if you do a renumbering and you’ll have to redo the process.

2. If you had movies change titles you probably don’t want to re-import movie titles when you update as you probably want them left the way you have them.

3. You can select to just download the pictures by unmarking the other options in the script options like IMDB but you must remember to add them back before adding new movies. I just did not import the titles and left everything else. This added 317 new actors from updates on the IMDB website as well and information I didn’t have cause I hadn’t noticed things like Goofs hadn’t downloaded till I read Prinz caught that and fixed it due a webpage change.

4. I would recommend that you make a backup copy of your database and files before you start this process. It’s easy enough to do and just in case you don’t like the results you can copy it back and overlay.

You can also equalize the cover ids by the CoverManager plugin...

In order to achieve what is possible, you have to try the impossible over and over again.

I don't use the plug in since the errors messages are in German.

Well, that could be a problem, I agree. Never haven't thought of the "system messages" as I only can translate the program itself...

*EDIT*
Which error messages do you mean?

Hmmmm, division by null. I haven't got that error and I have processed by own database with.
Could be that (as I have read here a while ago) there are .jpgs that aren't jpegs.
I have activated the use of irfanview, so I think my pics are automatically converted to the correct format and are not only renamed.
And how to rename is set in the config of XMM. The plugin should read that and processes all pics this way. I always use pic mask 1: movieid - title.
1_title.jpg can't work as you cannot change the delimeter between id and title.

In order to achieve what is possible, you have to try the impossible over and over again.
