I'm not exactly sure what is going on with the two newest releases. I did a clean install and nothing works. Error messages in German pop up and the program locks up sometimes. Other times it tell me I have new movies to add and dies. Closes itself. Adding movies to the data base just hanging or you get a screen flash and nothing. Totally, totally unstable. Needs some Quality Assurance work.
Also the link to prior releases doesn't work on the website.
okay, I'll be glad to check it when it's uploaded. There were several issues going on which I can't tell if it's the new updater or what. Some messages about missing scripts which are there all the scripts are checked and you have to unselect then look for the new scripts. I loved the old way much better. When you go to open a database you see the logo but nothing else. No file folder names are displayed nor the names of the databases just logos. When you updating movies you get a message box saying Liveupdater already in use. Not sure why that happens when your in 45 minutes into updating a movies with a script like IMDB. When adding movies to your database it does not finish the refresh and doesn't show the the added movies until you restart then they show in the grid. If you renumber alpha the numbers show 20435 which isn't in correct and if you click on the the title it says movie not in database. If shut down and restart its there again with 435 and you can access it. There are times you have a screen flash and get a message in german only quick enough to know you had it not what the problem is and locked up you're dead.
I also noticed scripts are being deleted. Currently I now only have up to DVDEmpire and the rest are gone. Have no idea what caused that. You have to kill the program to get off the script grid. The scripts are gone in the folder for the scripts.
In order to help test, I would load one version with the old updater and one with the new so we can track what is going on cause there isn't a lot of functionality that's working. I'm installed it under XP. Win 7 and Win 7 64bit with the same results.
Adding movies to the database you see them in the grid and click to add them when complete the grid is blank or not being refreshed with the data. For me if I shut down EMM and restart where it reloads and refreshes the database then the just loaded movies show up. Correctly numbered from 1-285. I next loaded 286-685 and here again the refresh didn't complete or show the new additions. After a restart it did. Also notice it doesn't like subs in the title name and deletes that. Like The titute 2 instead of The Substitue 2. Next I loaded 686-1002 with the same results of not showing in the database without a restart. This time when I did a renumber alpha I got 395 then 200395 for the next movie thru the rest of the list adding 1 to each number. If you click on 200395 you get the error message movie doesn't exist in database anymore. If you close and restart EMM then poof they are back and restored to correct order with the right numbers and you can access them.
I have noticed now loading movies runs quicker than the last release. But I did notice at that top it says scaning the install directory not the drive.
When you want to load or open a database it still gives you the icons and no file names or database names but in other lookups in the program like scan a drive it lists the correct information.
I've also noticed when updating a movie using a script it runs much quicker like there isn't a conflict going on behind the scenes.
When updating using the IMDB complete script and it searches for the movie title I've got 11 that lock up the program. I have to do more testing on that considering maybe 30 before it worked fine then boom. I need to do some more research and testing but I think this is vast improvement so far. I'm not getting flashing screens of LiveUpdater errors messages that it's already in use.
I'm going to add probably another 600 or 700 movies, renumber them and get them solid to actually go into updating the movie information for awhile and catch a nap. =)
Long nap. With the newest release when adding movies for me they don't always show in the grid. By that I mean more times than not. If you restart they are they there. If you do a collection renumber alpha the numbers still go like I stated above. Then if you restart again they are correct.
I rechecked because I hadn't set any filters. No Filters. I did an uninstall and new fresh install of the full version thinking something was left over. Scanned a drive got a list of movies to add and clicked add. That finished and I closed that window after all the updates. The new movies weren't in the grid like it hadn't be refreshed. Shut down EMM and restarted and they were there.
When I reload the layout they will appear. It seems to be the grid refresh when done loading movies.
I may have stumbled into a solution. I scanned a drive and added the movies from that drive. Next I went to the next drive and had the problems. If I download the information for the first couple of movies the everything works fine. It appears the refresh is having a problem with the actors database being null and doesn't complete the process.
