Having used XMM for several years and loving it, my media collection has almost 20,000 items and grinds to a halt whenever a database function is invoked.

A workmate says I need to switch over to a MySQL cataloger but none seem to offer XMM's feature set.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes I am not surprised. I have only 5k records in the movie table and around 100k in the actors table (total database size 350Mb). Start up takes around 30 seconds and "requery" around about 5 secs. This is manageable but, if the times are linear with db size, 20k records would be unworkable.

Thnak you, I am downloading it right now...

The Database is big because there are really much information inside it!

If you do not import for example Awards for movies and Actors the database would be really much little in size and more quick to load.

The awards is the info that slow down everything very much, the script takes really much time to grab it, the moviecards take much time to show it.

Thanks for the prompt response and I set up a test db file to check it out.

The speed is much faster but still frustratingly slow given the size of the library.

Are others here exporting their XMM excel db to SQL and if so how?

I want to try the same with deleting the awards sections from my movies, but i have 4000+ entries and can't find a way to clear the awards section on them all. A bit tedious going through them one by one. ;)

It would be amazing if XMM could switch over to SQL. Access is just too slow for larger databases (and it has other limitations).
I think this should be a priority, to speed up XMM and switch to a sql database. It's a lot more important than adding more features.
XMM is amazing, but to me it's almost getting to a point where there's just so much stuff added to it. If a feature is only useful to a few people it should not be added. Only things that would be very useful to a lot of people, or most xmm users should be added. The install file is already 62 mb...

And remember there is a scalability issue with Access. Although its for 2010, its probably true for many versions
