Hi,

this may be a bit of a dull question

Since the movie covers seem to be stored in a different path (C:\ProgramData\...) than the movies.mdb,
is there any option to backup the ENTIRE database, in fact including the ENTIRE information?

Im posting this particular question for the following reason. I try to explain, even at the risk of putting it complicated
Supposed my XMM8 installation is located on "C:\", which is probably mostly the case, while my movies.mdb is located on a second disk named "D:".
Now the "D"-disc is being backuped manually on a regular basis to protect me from dataloss in case the "C"-disk should fail some day.
And there you have the problem: Given the current configuration of XMM8, which is spread over different directories, and to be more precise NOT one folder containing everything, you could have some trouble restoring after a disc failure.

I hope, I managed to make myself clear.
Thanks for your thoughts on this! :-)

The backup function save only the database file, not the covers... this just to save space, and also because if you accidentally lose everything but you have the database will be really easy to download all covers again automatically.

Currently I have 442 Blu-Rays in my collection.
I don't mean no disrespect, but let's I hope I'll never come in the situation to download all those covers again... ;-)

Anyway, thanx for the answer! :)

442 are not so much!

XMM can re-download all covers in really few hours.

By the way, how easy things can be:

I simply added the path "c:\programdata\binaryworks" to an additional backup job...
Mission accomplished!

Which only works if all the covers came from sites which you have scripts for ...

Same goes for actors pictures, extracted frames etc. ...

On the other hand side: it's not really at XMM to take care of backing up important data in the first place.

Backup could easily be done by an option to backup whole database or only the .mdb.
Would even be no great deal to update an existing backup by only adding the differences.

In order to achieve what is possible, you have to try the impossible over and over again.
