Hi Alessio,

movies with German "Umlaute" like äöüÄÖÜß cannot be found (ofdb.de) with no tricks (like ö=oe) a.s.o. i.e. "Die üblichen Verdächtigen"

Sorry Mawu,

Please try again now, and if you have problems with other titles let me know.

I have add new items to SUBSTITUTEWEBQUERYWORD, like

#SUBSTITUTEWEBQUERYWORD#=ß=ss

Hi Alessio!

The new script doesn't work for the special characters.
You can test it by yourself, for example with:
"Küß mich, Dummkopf"
IMDB doesn't find anything.
Only with
"Kuss mich, Dummkopf"
a direct link is found
(tested with both updated IMDB scripts

Ok Mawu, I will upload the new IMDB in few minutes, please let me know if there was a problem with the script.

Hi Alessio!

It seems that only IMDB is affected, OFDB is ok.

bye byte and happy coding

No, I think. Maybe I have upload the wrong script...

Do you have problem with both IMDB and OFDB?

Hi Alessio,

did you change something in the import engine, because today I tried some movie import with new xMM 6.7.2 and the umlaute problem is present again. Before christmas it worked for me.

Bye byte and happy coding

Hi Alessio,

xMM 6.5.5 works like a charm for ofdb and imdb

Thank you very much for update.

Hi Alessio,

for me the ofdb-script works now with the german special characters...

Thanks a lot!
Mawu Posted - 07 Dec 2008 : 16:29:38
Hi Alessio,

thank you for the update. I will test the script tomorrow.
One further comment: I do not only have the "umlaut" problem with OFDB but also with IMDB. Any solution for this?

Bye Byte and happy coding

I have upload the new OFDB just now, please let me know if works correctly.

Thank you,

Alessio

Hi Guys,

I am trying to make it (the engine that will substitute the words is ready) but I am experiencing some problem.

If I put this string in internet explorer for example, it doesn't work because OFDB recognize the characters as "?".

Try this one:

http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=suchergebnis&Kat=DTitel&SText=B%E4renbr%FCder

Do you know why OFDB recognize "%E4" as "?" ?

Thank you,

Alessio

Any news?

Is there a solution in near future possible?
Alessio Viti Posted - 23 Nov 2008 : 16:05:45
Hi Oliver,

Please sorry very much , I haven't read your post, I just wrote about the new script.

I will read it carefully tomorrow and try to make something.

Thank you again and sorry!

Hi Alessio!

Any news concerning the "umlaut problem". At the moment it's a pain to import many movies containing umlaute (ä,ö,ü)at once.

Bye Byte

Hi Alessio

you should read my posting ;-).

It's not (!) a fix but a proposal how to handle german umlauts with the WEBQUERY in future versions of XMM.

Thank you Oliver!

Hi Alessio

at least also in following forum posting is talked about the german umlaut problem:
http://www.binaryworks.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1764

I sniffed the http request of XMM while doing a web query for the movie "Bärenbrüder" via OFDB.DE.TXT script.
The sniffer captured:
GET /view.php?page=suchergebnis&Kat=DTitel&SText=B%C3%A4renbr%C3%BCder HTTP/1.1

which gives no hits as already known.

But www.ofdb.de would need a request like:
GET /view.php?page=suchergebnis&Kat=DTitel&SText=B%E4renbr%FCder HTTP/1.1

Have you already thought about implementing a substitution section for constants #MOVIE#, #SERIE# and #NAME# ?

This is how it is currently done with variables:

....
         #STARTSUBSTITUTETAGS#
....

#SUBSTITUTETAGS#
    #SUBSTITUTEWORD#=#160;=
    #SUBSTITUTEWORD#=#161;=¡
#ENDSUBSTITUTETAGS#

And for the MOVIE/NAME/SERIE umlaut problem it could be helpful when having a second compile command and substitution list like ...

...
         #STARTSUBSTITUTECONSTANTS#
...

#SUBSTITUTECONSTANTS#
    - example for translation of german umlaut ä (ä)
    #SUBSTITUTEWORD#=%C3%A4=%E4
    #SUBSTITUTEWORD#=ä=%E4
    - example for translation of german umlaut ü (ü)
    #SUBSTITUTEWORD#=%C3%BC=%FC
    #SUBSTITUTEWORD#=ü=%FC
#ENDSUBSTITUTECONSTANTS#

What do you think about this proposal?

Oliver
