Yesterday I was able to add covers to my movies, today I'm not able to do that. I drag and drop and it looks like it works, but the cover never shows up. I tried using the cover manager and that doesn't work. So I fired up Access and it shows the image in the proper place with the proper name. Any ideas?

Sorry, but those error messages are a mystery to me.
But it seems as if XMM wanted to copy a file that it could not find. Maybe Windows was slower than XMM assumed to be at that moment.
Try to remove all files from that tempdir inside the program's folder and try it again.
If not go to the options and toggle the "Use of IrfanView" on tab "General".

You are right that's a big bug! I think Ale has passed a wrong variable to the episode card.
music4al Posted - 16 May 2017 : 06:31:40
I think I've figured out why its doing what it's doing... If you have a Season with multiple episodes only 1 picture is allowed for all episodes in the season, however if you have individual entries which are part of the Series, typically stored in Season 0 such as specials, extras, etc.. XMM will allow individual photos for each special, since it's a one off and not part of a set of episodes.
JDommi Posted - 09 May 2017 : 09:47:40
Well, it's not my program. Ale is is the sole programmer! I'm "only" a user just like you.
And as said before I never have recognized that problem. So I can't help on finding the bug. I only can guess that it could be a problem of a broken>/too slow download at that moment.
music4al Posted - 09 May 2017 : 06:39:05
It's the fact that it changes the name of the picture to (eg 743- (Movie ID) as mentioned previously, also sometimes you will see below one of the previous problems that the program coverts

ERROR DETECED ON COPY FILE:
Name Converted: 1-Constantine.jpg

I can't find out why there is an error on some and not on others, it seems random. I'm even tempted to attach a file that currently works to another to see if it gets rejected when attached to another episode

Unfortunately because I need this feature to work at least on a regular basis, can you put it on your lengthy to do list, I believe for users of your program it would enhance their experience and be a definite improvement as a selling point.

Thanks
JDommi Posted - 07 May 2017 : 17:42:53
Yes, that function is really not consistent. Therefor I never have added those pics to my CoverManager plugin.
But in general the picture name for episodes has following format: YYYYMMDDHHMM???--The-Title-Season-Episode. The ??? is a value I can not explore.
music4al Posted - 07 May 2017 : 16:47:48
Driving me crazy... I'm trying to add a cover for an episode in XMM9..it allows me to put in the cover in however it shows up in all episodes of the series, if I try to change the cover on say episode 5 of the series it changes all the covers.

Basically XMM9 uses a cover (eg 743-) for all episodes with Movie ID 743. What bothers me is that on some TV Series I've had no problem putting different covers for episodes and on some it will not work and defaults to the cover under the specific Movie ID.

One thing I did notice though is on the episodes that it does work when I add the picture in cover manager (via clipboard) the file being added now shows the filename (eg "10883-15-0-28-1---The-Top-10-Things-You-Need-To-Know-") not the generic 743-.

What frustrates me is that it's inconsistent. I don't mind having the generic cover for all episodes, however being able to change 1 or more with out it affecting the rest would be great

nevermind. I was being an idiot. I found the irfranview setting and all's well again
DrDeath Posted - 20 Apr 2017 : 04:55:36
Hi there. I have the same problem. It started when I upgraded to windows10. I'm have uninstalled the app, reinstalled the latest release, created a new database, and still it won't import pics with scrips, nor can I manually add pics. I tried both Drag and Drop and pointing to the actual file. I don't have Irfanview installed so I can't turn it off.. I get the following error:

Great
okcvet Posted - 14 Apr 2017 : 15:57:59
Oh WOW turned off IrfanView and now the script downloads the pictures again. Drag'N'Drop also works, so I am a happy camper now. Thank you.
JDommi Posted - 14 Apr 2017 : 00:23:09
I don't know if that could be a solution: https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/2836502/certain-jpeg-images-cannot-be-displayed-after-you-install-update-2670838-on-a-windows-7-sp1-or-windows-server-2008-r2-sp1-based-computer
JDommi Posted - 13 Apr 2017 : 00:34:21
Just a test: toggle the use of IrfanView in the options if then the pics will work again.
okcvet Posted - 12 Apr 2017 : 21:31:53
Try any of them for the last 6-7,000 I have not been able to import a single cover. I tried turning on all the options, checked all the fields, and tried all three IMDB scripts and no images. I finally decided to do a rebuild of the thumbnails that didn't help I deleted all the pictures not associated with any movie that didn't help and on a wild hunch I looked at the file permissions on the folders (in the documents folder that shouldn't be an issue) there were some that were set to read only so I corrected that. Short of re-installing the program I'm totally out of things to try.
JDommi Posted - 12 Apr 2017 : 01:12:07
I just have tested for another bug report the movie "Can Can" from 1960. Cover and fanart was imported correctly.
Tell me a movie where you don't get the cover, please.
JDommi Posted - 11 Apr 2017 : 17:38:21
I will have a look at the imdb script this week. But the last time I have checked it the covers were imported.
okcvet Posted - 11 Apr 2017 : 16:32:16
Actually I wish that the IMDB scripts would download the covers, but they haven't for me for a very long time. I did report that and nobody ever figured that one out either. I had never used the cover manager before, only started to use it when drag'n'dropped stopped working. I checked the tempdir and there were no files there. I downloaded your plugin so I'll try that. Thanks so much for your help. BTW, yes I always update my script files, and have the option enabled for images. I'll temporarily try enabling all options to see if there is any difference.
JDommi Posted - 10 Apr 2017 : 17:51:10
At first: why do the IMDB scripts take no covers? Do you use the latest release? Did you have a look at the script's options if that function is disabled? It can be that you have grabbed the script for that I have deactivated the grabbing of pictures as I always load them with another script before.

Well, for me this drag'n'drop does not work anyway - in the original CoverManager of XMM. And I don't know if that ever was working.
Only method to add pics that way is by using my plugin "CoverManager" ( http://www.mediafire.com/file/t3x29gqg265i197/Updates_XMM9.rar ). That still works perfectly for me.

Adding the pic with the original CoverManager works for me, too, although is shows an error:

Let me step you through the process that works but is very frustrating. I use the IMDB script (and I've tried all 3) XMM retrieves the movie information without covers. I open the movie in IMDB and Netflix (the description and cover is usually better in Netflix) I choose which cover I want to use and drag that jpg to my desktop. I open the movie to edit in XMM and at that point I was just simply dragging the jpg from my desktop to XMM. Now that doesn't work. So I open the cover manager click on add select the jpg and it still does not add the cover but does give the following:

Selected File : C:\Users\Wayne Langford\Desktop\MV5BMTgyOWYwYmYtNGJiNy00NWEwLTkxYTctOTcxYmJkZWNiNjQ5XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMDMxMjQwMw@@._V1_UX182_CR0,0,182,268_AL_.jpg

Temp Dir: C:\Users\Wayne Langford\Documents\eXtreme Movie Manager 8\tempdir\images\
Current database: C:\Users\Wayne Langford\Documents\eXtreme Movie Manager 8\Databases\movies.mdb

now at this point I can copy the intended name for the jpg, rename the jpg manually drag it into the proper folder and then at that point it does indeed appear. That is not really an acceptable work-around, just a temporary solution until someone can figure this out, or I move to another movie manager.

Thank you for your help.
