Hi there.

I just upgraded from MM6 to MM7.
Everything works as expected except the File Scanner.
I've two folders on my NAS where my movies are lying in:
Folder 1 contains DVD isos, about 4..5GB filesize
Folder 2 contains BluRay isos, about 20..45GB filesize
Scanning Folder 1 for new movies gives me no problems.
But As soon as the File Manager finds new movies in Folder 2,
it seems to read the complete 20..45GB iso file..depending on the speed of the device where this file lies this could take a while...
Now if i let file manager finish its operation (takes about 1 hour per file with my NAS ) everything is OK.
But how can i prevent the File Scanner from even openning the file?
For my understanding everything the scanner needs to now should be the filename to deduce the movie name from it. Maybe i should note that i already disabled the picture extracion as well as the length calculation...

I would really appreciate if this could be fixed.

Best regards and thanks in advance

I have multiple TB drives and I set file manager to not scan them on startup. Instead I only scan them if I have movies to add...if you disable it TOOLS>File Manager and then remove the folders from there, it won't scan on startup.
When you want to add anything just select "Add Movies" >Scan Drives for Movies and select it then.
I add my movies in batches to my storage drives and then import and update them that way.
This allows it to load faster on start up.
If it is taking a long time to scan the drive, you might be better off to run a program like dirlister, export it as a text file and then import the text file for the movie list?

Hey JustME.

Im doing exactly the same as you do.
I do not use the File Monitor.
I copying my movies to these two folders and from time to time i use the "import movies from disk" option to import them.
The Problem i was talking about is that when i import the new movies from my bluray folder, MM streams the complete 20..45GB iso file over the network (i used ProcessMonitor to find this out). So when i just add two movies each about 30GB it takes over one hour until MM finishes.
And i do not understand why it even opens the file. what kind of information tries MM to extract from them?

Best Regards

Ahhh...that definitely is an issue!
I guess the "work around" would be to add them as a text file, but that definitely is an issue that has to be fixed as others may have bluray rips in with their movies and it would then be perceived as a bug in the app as it is slow to load... :-)
What do you have in the folder for file names and extensions? Maybe just post the names of the contents of one of the folders? It's not like it has an autorun or anything in there or anything for an EXECUTABLE that tries to fire up the movie when it is queried by any chance? If it is trying to play the movie that would explain the issue...then to try to find out why :-)
this is only with the bluray ones though?

Hi Guys,

Sorry for my late reply!

I will take a look if I can do something for such big files. XMM always try to read the info from it, this is why it takes much time.

Thank you!

Alessio, it would be really nice if this could be fixed.
Maybe even adding an option like "do not attepmt extracting movie info from file" or something like that could help.
And thanks to JustMe for pointing out the workaround - although i've not tried it yet i think this should do it (however with some extra effort).

Regards

I just noticed the "->Fixed a bug in Movie File Manager function" comment and tried out the latest version 7.0.3.9 but the problem still exists.
If you need any further informations to fix this - just let me know!
Btw. here is what ProcessMonitor sees:

....

18:19:48,7003729 eXtreme Movie Manager.exe 3032 ReadFile \\192.168.0.2\BluRays\Movie\Movie.iso SUCCESS Offset: 1.141.637.120, Length: 65.536

18:19:48,7004776 eXtreme Movie Manager.exe 3032 ReadFile \\192.168.0.2\BluRays\Movie\Movie.iso SUCCESS Offset: 1.141.702.656, Length: 65.536

and so on...
So it seems to read the complete file in 65k chunks.

I also tried the text file workaround suggested by JustME, but the problem with this is that i have to manually add the file locations for every new movie.

Hi,

Sorry for my late reply! The bug fixed was not the one of large iso

I haven't fix it yet because I don't know how to do it right now.

I will continue to work on that.
