Hi to All,

I want post some screenshot of the next generation of XMM, completely re-written from scratch in .NET technology. The New XMM will be more powerful, more fast and I hope more user-friendly.

For this reason I post here screenshot and write some characteristic, so you can write me your impressions and suggestions.

The ScriptEngine is at third generation, with new functions and variables, more quick in some procedures and will be able to natively support chains of scripts. (All old script will be supported of course)

Script now will have also Configurable Options, so every user will be able to configure scripts for their personal use.

The new engine is split in two parts : the first will find the direct link of a movie, the second will only download informations. This will allow you to select all links of movies in one shot and after download all informations when you want ('Batch Import Mode'). For example in the Actual XMM 4.8 you must, for every movie, 'double click' on the link fo the movie, wait the end of the information's download and then pass to the next movie...)

Please write me your impressions and suggestions!

Oh well, I had just started work on a MediaPortal plugin for EMM 4.8, but I guess I'll start with 5 now that the Alpha is out. Good luck Alessio, I'll let you know of any bugs I find in the alpha.
Alessio Viti Posted - 11 Feb 2006 : 09:35:55
Of course! When you purchase a copy of XMM, all future releases are free, so 5.0, 6.0... and so on

will the 5.0 version be a free upgrade from the 4.8 version that i just bought?
Alessio Viti Posted - 10 Feb 2006 : 20:46:52
Hi,

I have plan to release the first alpha tomorrow, but there is really much work to do (Database manager, cover manager, cover printer etc.. and , of course, bug fixing), so this alpha is only for test purpose.

I think that the final beta will be ready for end of February, with all of feature ready.

If you have patience, you can use directly the 5.0 and write me all bugs you found, so will be more easy for me finish the job.

Thank you!

Hi all :)

I would like a precision: when do you plan to release XMM 5 ? I've seen no info about that. Maybe you could edit your first message and put it there.

I ask the question because unfortunately my HDD crashed some weeks ago and guess what? I've lost 400+ entries, all my DVD collection passed away. :( :( :(

So burn your collection on CD, do NOT act like me, just a backup on the HDD on another repertory, when the full HDD is dead, you are in the ... ;) Now I have to redo the entire job so if you intend to release V5 next week, I'll wait until that date. Otherwise I will install again 4.8.

Make CD backup, do not forget!! ;)

And cheers for all the work Alessio.

Thank you Levander for the suggestion, Maybe I can add a field for this, so you can "Group by" it in the tree.

Hi!

I have one wish/suggestion:

It would be great to have these CATEGORIES you can switch: 1. MOVIES 2. DOCUMENTARIES 3. ANIMATION
Now in version 4.8 I use 3 databases but it is slow and not practical.
I think it is essential for big databases.
Alessio Viti Posted - 10 Feb 2006 : 13:04:43
Yes, you are right, I have forget it.

OK, I will try to unificate all things together.

Hi Alessio,

quote:
What do you mean exactly with moviecards? There will be moviecards for Movies, TV Series, Episodes and Actors.

I mean: oridinary moviecards, moviecards for html-database and moviecards for GeneralDB2HTML addon. Too much monkey business imho. There should be one "format" that covers the features of all.

Bye Bye

It's a goos idea to have grid configurations, I will take a look.

Hi Alessio,

about thumbnail view: when thumbnail display is possible in the grid there should be a possibility to switch quickly between several grid view configurations, for example to have only the cover "column" displayed.

about moviecards: are there still three movie card types? I think in the past this was very confusing for the users.

Also one of those who can't wait to try the alpha!

One thing I notice on the last previews. The status field in the bottom said the same thing in all the previews: "Total TV series Listed: 12", even when you were looking at the movie "Terminator 2".

Have a nice weekend (but work hard!)

Best regards!
Alessio Viti Posted - 09 Feb 2006 : 23:26:38
Hi Mawu,

You can hide the left tree and the moviecard if you want (so you can see only grid).

The grid column order is selectable, so you can freely add and re-order the column of the grid. The search and filters will come back (I have to do this).

About the thumbnail : I don't know if do it or not because now you can show posters directly in the grid.

I must do all others minor things like "Database Manager", "Script Manager", "Cover Manager" etc..., but I will release an alpha before do this, so people can test the new engine (and maybe help me rewrite scripts and moviecards)

Bye!

Hi Alessio,

great work so far. I await eagerly the first alpha.
I have to a agree with cybernoids suggestions. Starting from the tripartite arrangment of the main window at least the left "column" should be hideable. As I always work only with "media icon - FilmNr - Title" in the left column of xMM 4.8 I want to be able to "restore" this configuration also in 5.0 (should be no problem).
Another possibility would be to make the grid and the "view column" more flexible to arrange them one upon the other. But I think this is only fine-tuning. I hope in the final version we will see again the thumbnail view, extended filter and search options and more icons in the toolbar(the size is perfect now)

Bye Bye

this looks really great, cant wait to try the alpha :)

just one question: have you considered an option to hide the tree (or also the other "tabs") when you dont need it/them?
i personally will have my movies sorted alphabetically most of the time and you could win some space for the grid and the moviecard/quick edit tabs. this could be useful especially for people with rather small monitors (so no very big prob for me :) )
