Hi Alessio,
This is a long going problem. The device scanner settings save the avi file extensions in uppercase, and as follows.
AVI
AV#65533;
AV#65533;
AV?
The capital "#304;" (i) is not saved properly and this causes the device scanner to skip those movies.
Please do something about it. If there's any workaround to this, I would appreciate anyone who could tell it to me. |

I think the capital of i (I) is 78. "Normal" characters have a range up to 255. Therefor you are not using any keystroke.
I think avi is written in any language as avi. So please don't use any unicode signs. |

I am trying NOT to use unicode, but when I write "avi" in small letters and save & exit, XMM converts it to unicode... That's the problem. |

To be honest I don't understand the problem. As file extensions I always have them in capitals (standard list after a fresh install). All movies I have tested have small letters as extension and they are correctly recognized.
Maybe I'm wrong but there must be another problem. On my keyboard layout avi is correctly converted to AVI without using unicode. Especially as XMM is not able to work with unicode. |

First of all, this forum doesn't support unicode so I can't give the examples right that's why I added some images below.
When I add the extension as "avi" (small letters) and press OK to close the settings window, it turns in to this; " " and capitalizes the word
Which is correct because the "device scanner" can find the avi movies if it's saved as "". But XMM can not find the avi movies, if the extension name is "AVI" (without the dot)
but when I quit XMM and restart the program, the extensions in the settings window, turn into these;
As you can see, "" turns into "AV?" so XMM device scanner, can't find the "avi" movies again.
My question is how can i force XMM to save the extensions in small letters like "avi" OR how can i force XMM to save capital "i" (with the dot) like this "" |

Do you already have tried to open the config.ini?
In Line 42 there are all the extensions listed. Try to add your new extension there.
But somehow I still haven't understand your problem. Do turkish AVIs have another extension than english AVIs? |

If i save the "avi" extension with the small letters, from the config.ini, it saves & reads it as small letters, so it works.
But I have to repeat that process with every update.
Also JDommi, what part didn't you understand, I can try to explain it better. |

As the extension AVI already was on the list I never had to add it manually again.

Do you install the update or the full version?
I always install the full version but my settings remain everytime. Only the scrips are always reset to standard.
When you have Windows 7 I know that there can be problems because of the roaming. Please check the folder C:\Users\[PROFILE]\AppData\Roaming if there is a copy of the config.ini. |

I'm also from Turkey like ComZiz and have same problem (wrote here few times but get no answers).
As ComZiz, EMM always converts my .avi extension to big "i" (#304;) and skips avi files, each time I run EMM, I have to correct it manually :( |

Really not easy to debug or find a workaround as this error seem to appear only on your language.
What about the config.ini? Is the extension in there okay?
Ale needs to know when the unwanted conversion occurs. On saving the externsion to your config or when using the device scanner. |

Hi
I have the exact same problem, either you should correct from seetings eveytime you import movies or you should change grom Control Panel>Region and Language>Formats your format to English United States.
I am using second option which is permanent, you can correct manually date and time formats if you don't like US format.

Ver. 9 has also same problem, each time I restart XMM I have to fix file extension by hand. I converts avi file extension to AV#304; by capitalizing it, in our alphabet (Turkish) capitalized version of i is not I its's #304;...
So it makes avi to AV#304; and can not find AV#304; files. Maybe it's better to not to make file extensions capitalized in the XMM. Been more than 5 years bug still exists... |

Download this file and copy it to your XMM folder.
The program patches the config.ini to replace the FileExtensions on line 42 from AVI to AV#304; and then immediatly starts XMM itself.
I don't know if it really works but at least the config.ini contains the big I with a dot above.
Keep in mind that XMM saves the config.ini everytime you close XMM. So the starter has to be executed always instead of XMM! |
